Vista is back as one of the County's best teams, as they are 6-2 (officially, unofficially they're 7-1, but thanks to a transcript error from his prior school a player who played only 3 downs in the first game was actually ineligible, and Vista had to forfeit the game).
Vista has 5 blowout wins where they have scored 40 or more points, and had an amazing comeback vitory over Poway. They are a legitimate Top 10 Team in the San Diego Section for the first time since 2010. Coach Dave Bottom has really got this program rolling - even though at first he stuck rigidly to his Wing T formation offensively (which cost the Panthers a few games in his first two seasons). But over the last two seasons he's adapted, adding more shotgun formations, more single back sets, and even the occasional 3 wide formations. As a result, Vista is much less predictable on offense and have become an explosive offensive unit.
They have three legitimate starting running backs who could all start for probably 90% of the schools in the county (David Flores, Desmond Taua, and Brian Kelly), a solid QB (Travis Bennett), and one of the county's best receivers (Brent Lawson).
Here are the highlights of last night's game against Westview (the first game I've had a chance to edit for a highlight package)...

Here's the PPR Raw package from the big Vista/Poway game a couple weeks ago. It doesn't feature all of the scoring plays (oddly, the winning TD is missing), but it does have a lot of them.
#22 David Flores and #11 Brent Lawson would make great Aztecs...
(And I wouldn't mind seeing #3 Desmond Taua in the red and black.)

Vista won the Palomar league last night with a decisive win over Rancho Bernardo. The Final score was 37-20.
It was a close, hard fought game until the 4th quarter when Vista took over and pulled away.
