Get a veteran winning manager in here ASAP. No more unproven first timers like Green or Black.
This team has been horrible and perpetually rebuilding since 1969. And we don’t romanticize crappy teams like they do on the East Coast, we ignore them and they eventually go away like the losers they truly are (see Chargers).

Getting someone from a winning organization is more criticial than experience. A culture change is needed.

Good article! Pretty much spot on. Back when the Padres signed Hosmer, I commented that he was basically a left handed Wil Myers with better on base skills and less power. That's mostly been the case. I'm 100% in agreement that this year they should target someone like Strasburg. I'd love to see him come home to pitch in Padre Brown next year and beyond.

Stras is not an UFA, but he does have an opt out if he wants it...yes?

Great piece, thanks for sharing. The money paragraph: Possibly the harder question is whether the organization, and I’m definitely including ownership, has the strength to walk away and move past their biggest mistakes. It’s one thing to sign Hosmer to one of the most inexplicable deals in MLB history. But it’s another to, once that mistake is as apparent as the nose on your face, continue to let that mistake hurt your team year-after-year by not finding a better option at first base. The same goes for Myers. If a player isn’t good enough to justifiably be on your 25-man roster, it doesn’t matter if they’re owed $1 or $100,000,000. That money is already almost certainly gone.
