Remember him? At one point, he was considered by one prominent writer to be a potential MVP shortstop. Unfortunately, he couldn't connect at the plate with any regularity, despite plu skills.
Now, meet Javy Guerra...the pitcher.
Yep, the converted shortstop has been turned into a reliever. And after throwing less than 20 innings, he is already in AA. There is a serious chance he could be a September callup in the bullpen. He's been clocked up to 100 in bullpen sessions, more comfortably around 97 in game settings. He's also shown a plus slider and obvious athleticism for the position. Quite a reclamation project.

Along with Guerra, the Padres have brought up David Bednar, a RHP from Amarillo, and brought back Jankowski for the OF.

Wow, Guerra got smoked. In two thirds of an inning, he gave up 5 hits, and 4 runs. Of those 5 hits, 3 of those were home runs. Incredible.
