What was the point of yesterdays brief appearance, really? It was Patiño's spot and they wanted to give Gore one more cameo. It was worth it. He was tremendous.

And that was the last you will see of him. The Padres, I'm sure influenced by Patiño going down, will shut down Gore for the remainder of the year. He finishes with 101 innings pitched. I thought Patino only had a blister. Did I miss something? No, but do you remember Gore's debut season being wrecked by blisters? The ball that is used in AA and below is a different ball than what MLB has used. With Patiño up near 100 innings, they are going to be cautious either way.

Gore's final numbers are something out of a video game : 101 innings, 56 hits, 19 runs, 28 walks, 135 strikeouts. Those 19 runs came across 20 combined starts. 7 of them came in one start in his Amarillo home debut. He finished with an batting average against of .164. His strikeout percentage of 35.7% across two levels ranks 5th among all minor league pitchers. His importance to the organization is massive.

I did not know they used a different ball in AA and below. That seems stupid.
Hey, I learned something new today.

Gore wins MLB Pipeline's Pitcher of the Year award. Well deserved honor.
