I'd like to see him pitch in the Arizona Fall League.

I'd like to not max out his innings in August.

I'd like to not max out his innings in August. It was a selfish request by me, I will admit. I will be at the AFL in October.

I'd like to not max out his innings in August. It's all good, baby! The goal is for Lake Elsinore to be stacked next season! It would be a slight disappointment if Gore isnt with the big club early next year. Alot of the phenom prospects debuted before 21. Doc Gooden, King Felix, Clayton Kershaw, Jose Fernandez, etc.

Only throwing 60 innings last year really hurt his developmental progress.

Agreed.
What's your prediction on the Padres starting 5 by August of next season?

Agreed. What's your prediction on the Padres starting 5 by August of next season? So hard to tell because of the Richards situation and impending free agency moves. I would expect it to look like ________ (frontline outside acquisition), Paddack, Gore, Richards (if healthy) and then a battle for the 5th spot.

Too many higher upside arms.

Too many higher upside arms. Neither one of them seem to have a true out pitch which causes them to run up their pitch counts early in the game.

Lauer IMO, seems better suited for the bullpen, good pick off move and a different look than the typical flamethrower. He usually is very solid through 3 innings, then gives up runs in the 4th and 5th. If he is to stay as a starter in this rotation next year, he needs another pitch.
It looks to me Quantril is the most polished of the young starters I’ve seen. Good command, stuff and mound savvy, he will be in the rotation with Paddock next year.

Lauer and Lucchesi both are better suited in opener roles or out of the pen in shorter stints. Lucchesi when facing a lineup for the third time....yikes.

Quantril is the best of the starters. He looks like a real major league pitcher. He does not waste pitches. The others seem to lack what Quantril has, poise. im not saying he is Greg Maddox up there..but.

Second, he found another gear on his fastball (92 in the minors, now 94.5) and third, his slider has become a true swing and miss pitch.

Guess who's back? MacKenzie Gore starting today for Amarillo.

MacKenzie Gore....what can you say? After walking the leadoff hitter (and looking disgusted with himself)...He faces some adversity. Immediately picked off the runner, but he was ruled safe at 2nd by a blind umpire. Luis Torrens then has a fastball clank off his glove. Runner goes to third on the passed ball....Gore casually whiffs Jeter Downs (top 30 Dodgers system prospect), strikes out Connor Wong (#28 Dodgers prospect) and yes, strikes out Omar Estevez, all swinging. He faced 6 batters. He struck out 5. Hit 97 twice. Sat 96.

And that was the last you will see of him. The Padres, I'm sure influenced by Patiño going down, will shut down Gore for the remainder of the year. He finishes with 101 innings pitched.
