Worst dWAR of all time for a shortstop (Gold Gloves mean nothing, Eric Hosmer says hello.) 4 of the 5 rings came in his first 5 seasons. He played on some of the greatest teams of the last 30 years, so the playoff stats are going to show up, obviously. He was a career 119 wRC+ hitter (19% above average) but his longevity is his greatest argument.

Jeter is a no doubt HOFer that any MLB team would taken in a heartbeat. www.cbssports.com/general/news/where-is-derek-jeter-among-all-time-greats-higher-than-i-thought/

I don't think Ryan is saying Derek Jeter was not a damned good ballplayer. You know, it's possible to be a great player and still be slightly overrated. DJ, due to his popularity and huge media market was made to be like a God. Imagine if Trout played in NY? I am not taking anything away from DJ's leadership, charisma, ability to show up under the lights, and his solid offensive bat. But he was overrated as a SS, yes.

Interesting. WAR is literally how contract values are assigned and where the idea of surplus value is generated (Pretty important when trade season rolls around). Jeter won 1 title in his last 11 years, after being named "Captain." He is the career worst defensive shortstop since 1900. Byproduct of the New York media market size, hype and being surrounded by absurd amounts of talent. Really good player, sure. But not the best shortstop of his generation on either side of the ball. Now, let's get this thread back on track.

I tried to log in all afternoon and it said I was banned. Odd. Yes, he is having a hard time with breaking balls in particular right now. I expect them to work on his swing/load in fall instructs.

He was a fan and clubhouse favorite and may be in some type of emotional slump. The guy has a tattoo of Petco Park so who knows what is going on in his head. Hope he gets out of it soon and proves all the doubters wrong.

My post was more a comment on how badly Reyes was doing. How could anyone think I was in any way saying the two players are comparable?

Trammell, I fear, will be a great disappointment. I am much more concerned over a guy that is hitting .207 since May 1st, and .171 since we have had him. Reyes? Meh. He isn't our concern any longer.
