I didn’t think Franmil was not, or could not be a winning baseball player, so I’ll leave my thoughts at that, other than the hot talent lava better warm up a lot next year. Right now I think that’s a stretch but we’ll see Anything is possible, but it speaks volumes that the Indians have already said Reyes is limited to pinch hit duties in their final series against the Nationals, in the thick of a playoff race. Link? even with out it, it coincides with Ramirez's return the other day...

Not trying to beat a dead horse,( just posting some new stuff), a reporter(James Clark) who covers the Padres for the East Village Times. said he talked to several players today off the record about Reyes, and among other things, one said he was ”the glue that held the team together” Another said “just look at the team’s record without him.” Just sayin.

Reyes is doing his best to not try and pass his buddy Machado in RBI this season. Only had 3 hits and scored 2 runs in todays game

Analytical baseball people who haven't played the game just don't understand how important team chemistry is. Because it can't be quantified to measure an actual impact. Nobody is denying that he was popular in the clubhouse, but at the end of the day, you have to have a natural fit on the roster going forward. He didn't.

And there seems to be a few already on the current roster who don’t play good defense. The current makeup of the team is pathetic. Anyone who thinks the Pads can make up even half the 30+ game difference between them and the Dodgers is delusional.

Hosmer would be the one I point out, but the major reason Reyes was traded was the defensive gap between him and Renfroe was the Pacific Ocean. Tatis also had some rookie struggles, along with some hiccups from a couple others.

FWIW, from "The Athletic" Indians recap article. "José Ramírez, the guy with the centipede-sized scar on his right hand, carried the lineup at the start of the week. His hand was barking on Friday, so he received a day to rest. Francona also omitted Franmil Reyes from the lineup, citing Reyes’ defensive limitations (though he stuck Santana in left field during the World Series and Jason Kipnis in center field during a pair of playoff pushes)." theathletic.com/1248468/2019/09/28/well-hurt-together-the-bitter-end-to-the-indians-hunt-for-october/

I was certainly not saying Franmil was a good outfielder, what I meant was that does his offensive output somewhat neutralize his defensive shortcomings? It would seem that someone could work with him at first base during the off season. He’s still young!

Absolutely not to the first part - He was the worst rated qualifying right fielder in baseball for a chunk of the season; the offense was nowhere near good enough to offset that. Identical situation to Hosmer, unfortunately. His value further diminishes moving him from the outfield. He's a DH.

He may not be the ultimate expert on this, but he's correct. We’ll see, it’s very early in his career. I never claimed to be an expert, but I do have conversations with those who are. I don't think from a fan perspective, it clouds your ability to see things impartially. Studying the numbers removes any kind of bias you have coming in. Most people vouching for Franmil are fans of the personality, the dugout persona you see on TV. I don't go there.
