Had his contact selected from Amarillo, and will join the Padres tonight. Phil Maton was traded to the Indians for international Bonus Pool money.
Also...Lauer and Hedges to the bereavement list, and Austin Allen recalled form El Paso.

Anybody still thinking Mejia is an answer? He’s not very good defensively and is really confused at the plate. I know there are probably a couple people on here that will disagree with this but, please, show me where I’m wrong. I’ll be waiting.

He's 23 years old, with what, 90 major league at bats in San Diego? Good God, people. Insane expectations on development. He had a 1.157 OPS in El Paso. I'd like to see a full season out of Francisco before judging his major league bat, but I can tell you now he's not going to ever be Yadier Molina behind the dish. It's well documented that he's a candidate for a position change, and if he stays at C he has a lot of work to do.

But in his defense, it's hard to get into any kind of rhythm when you aren't playing regularly (that's on Andy Green). But since he was brought back up, he is playing just about every day, and has hit .266 since his call-up.
