I'm thinking that based upon the way that he is destroying the AZL pitchers he should be moved up to the Tincaps. He needs to be challenged by better players.
And the Padres desperately need a bat like his @ 2B or in CF.

There is no need to rush him at this point. He'll debut in Fort Wayne next year and be roughly 3 years under league average in terms of age.

Not to hijack this thread, but during the the Manny Machado/Bryce Harper circus, I remind myself of how I would've been content with signing Mike Moustakas for 3B. I have no idea if the Padres could've afforded him after signing Manny, but the Brewers plugged him at 2nd base (for the 1st in his career) and he's been doing really well this season (1 error in 44 games at 2B, plus hitting .263 with 25 HRs and 53 RBIs). I know Urias was the plan all along at 2B, and who knows if the Padres even considered signing Moustakas last off season, but I still like to think about how much better the Padre offense would've been with him in the lineup

If we signed him he would be getting killed at home by Petco Park and we would be complaining about a bad signing. Greg Garcia Road .268 .371 .463 .835 Mike Moustakas R .256 .332 .518 .850 For comparison Manny Machado's road numbers: .307 .387 .571 .958

Then again, career numbers for Moustakas: .252/.309/.441/.750. Career numbers for Machado:.................281/.336/.487/.822. Manny is also 3 years younger at 27. It cost the Padres a great deal for Machado. So far, IMO, the Padres made the correct choice. And having him paired with Tatis Jr on the left side of the infield for many years to come? Glorious.

Has hit in all 19 games he has played, and is hitting .443 I've never seen a high school player come out and do this to this degree. 39 hits in 19 games. Showing legitimate power, speed, instincts. The defense at shortstop is still raw, which you would expect. But he was vastly underrated as a hitter coming out, it seems. Keith Law put him in his top 30 a couple days ago.

And has been since day one. Only has 3 games out of 30 where he has gone hitless, to go along with 19 games with multiple hits.

Very encouraged to see that the Padres had the brains to follow my recommendation that initiated this thread. About time!

His second game in a ball was really nice. Played shortstop batting leadoff. A single, a double, a walk, a stolen base, and a run scored in five plate appearances.

The ball Abrams hit for a double would have been an easy triple, but it bounced over the wall. Crushed it to right center.
