Will we be seeing our toast well done or simply burnt? That will likely be the deciding factor …

We’ll be 8 pt underdogs. At least. It will be nice to jump back into a world where the winning team is irrelevant, just the spread. Thing is, early in the season one is going to want to get a handle on the element(s) they're/they'll be dealing with as soon as possible. As a tangent, quoting Sgt. Foley's, "this is where the fun starts!", now that the canonizing of Leonard appears to be over, (at least for now), the next topic will be on what court will he make his NBA team presence next season. This is kind of topic is what makes sports books SO much fun!

We absolutely can, will we? Guess we will have to wait and see Gee, how did you know what I was going to say? UCLA will be much better than last season, and with all the questions to be answered by our OL, receivers, DL & defense in general, & kicking game we don't know until we see them in action. I do believe this will be one of the best Aztec teams to face the Bruins since the Faulk years. (talent wise) They just have to put it all together, and make some breaks!

Statistically speaking, we're f'n due...way overdue.
This is the one Aztec Curse that still exists.

UCLA opens with a road trip to Cincinnati and then hosts SDSU with another home game the following week against Oklahoma.
That is a difficult run and one that bodes well for an Aztec win. As has been noted, the OL improving and the DL playing as well as they did last year will be the key.

I like that UCLA schedule. UCLA will be preparing for the Oklahoma game for at least 2 weeks before their game. We will be their final scrimmage with pads before the real contest. Hahahaha, we have them just where we want them!

Will be tough, UCLA runs the spread with athletes, SDSU and Rocky Long has not shown they can stop the spread. Will need to have a ball control offense and keep UCLA's offense on the sideline. That's an excellent point. Furthermore, we're something like 0-20-1 all time against UCLA and while Athlon has the Bruins as having the #42 team in the country, Athlon has us at #63 or one-third again worse plus the game is in their stadium. I will say this. Rocky Long coached teams are typically much more mentally and physically tough than were Tom Craft coached teams so unlike what I saw in 2004 and 2005, these Aztecs aren't going to stop giving 100% effort if they get down by a couple TDs. Craft's teams never quit on him.

If things aren't going well and we don't make halftime adjustments, we don't deserve to win. Oldie Out See Stanford last year for reference above...

Well, Orlando Sentinel has them about midway on the college football totem pole. We've beat teams in recent years that are clearly better than these Bruins. www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/college-gridiron-365/os-sp-college-football-rankings-ucla-0621-20190621-qyuezggwknhuzbejw2fcp6nbtq-story.htmlThing is... The entirety of the UCLA Athletic Dept lives, rent-free, inside the SDSU Athletic Dept. And nowhere is that more abundantly clear than with the guys who put on pads and helmets. There's been Aztec teams several times that should have taken out Joe Bruin at the knees, but just didn't get it done. So can they get it done? Maybe. But "maybe" has never gotten it done before. Ever. At some point, you gotta force collection of rent-due.

If Agnew keeps it together (by us keeping him upright), we have a shot. Although, I still worry about his accuracy.
Defense is going to have to keep us in the game long enough for the Offense to get rolling. Please let us have a good DLine this year!

UCLA is one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of teams. They've flat kicked our asses too many times for me to pick SDSU. I know that history doesn't mean anything when it comes to this game, but I just don't plan on getting my hopes up for this one.

I’m curious if UCLA chooses to wear white uniforms forcing us to wear black in that heat. I was bummed to hear the early afternoon start time.

Yes, that could be a problem, but they have to play in it also. I believe Rocky will have our Aztecs mentally prepared for this game, and we know that we have a tough physical team. So, we will see which team can perform in the heat. Plus, since it is a afternoon game here it will be on TV, and more chance the Left coast will be able to see it!

Just a wild guess, though.
