Shouldn't get too excited, though.
Half the field has yet to tee off.

Wow. SDSU making a major charge. Taking the golf world by storm.
Piercy at -5 after 15. Two strokes up. Looks like he's going to be the leader in the clubhouse.
Xander is even after 9, tied for 30th. Decent start. Needs a couple or three birdies on the back nine.

Watching the U.S. Open it is very interesting to see how the advertisers have total control of the editorial content. This is true of every professional sport but in none is it more obvious than in golf. I guess that should be expected: lots of big bucks spent on golf equipment.

That is great that two Aztecs are playing so well right now. But, the real test comes over the next two days. You have to play well then in order to have an opportunity to win it all.
Good Luck to Both of them!!!!!!!

I'm so happy for Piercy. When I was a student SID, men's golf was one of my sports. He wasn't even the top golfer on the team at the time. Magnus Carrlson was numero 1 and Piercy was entrenched as a solid #2. Clearly, he is mastering his craft.
Go Aztecs!
