Seeing how it's kind of boring around here, I thought I would share something that might seem rather embarrassing. I'm a SDSU alum and for years I couldn't figure out what acronym JAM meant when describing the JAM Center. I thought of HAM and other acronyms that might have something to do with the crazies in student section but still came up with nothing when it came to the J. I have to admit, there wasn't the best investigation on my part to seek the answer but would occasionally try and solve my mystery. After moving away from San Diego years ago, I finally got it while reading an article about the center. The JAM Center was named after the major donors and contributers that helped build this great facility for SDSU. If anyone else was afraid to ask what the JAM stands for in fear of being ridiculed, here you go at my expense.
"Alumni contribution was significant, and the center is now named after major donor Jeff Jacobs as well as top donors Hal and Debby Jacobs, Steve and Lisa Altman and Jim Morris- the first letters of their last names making up the JAM acronym."
Thanks to those donors for helping build the JAM Center. And for those of you who didn't know, you do now. đŸ¤”

Thanks for the great info. We all should know the names of the generous donors who made the JAM possible. After all the JAM is a great recruiting tool and will be for years to come.

Believe most of the information was out there when they were raising the money for the JAM Center and then when it was opened -
The group does deserve a lot of Props - especially those who were not even Alums but wanted to help SDSU basketball
Sure hope the coaching staff can get the Aztecs back to being a major player in college basketball

Yes, Steve Altman, who many on this board unfairly ripped and degraded during the soccer city / sdsu west clash. I believe Altman truly thought Soccer City would benefit SDSU. Not his fault the admins had their thumbs up their asses for a while and took so long to get their stuff together to go after the site themselves.

did get major support from folks that are not even alums - who deserve to be acknowledged again - sure helps the program - great place for a great picture of K. L for recruits to view while they are here on a visit or the local guys.

Not his fault the admins had their thumbs up their asses for a while and took so long to get their stuff together to go after the site themselves. But fortunately, SDSU finally did remove their thumbs from their ass*s and put out what the majority of the voters thought was a better proposal than Soccer City.

Speaking of the JAM Center. It's interesting to see who shows up there. Here's UC Irvine's 6'9" PF/C Tommy Rutherford working on his post moves. It looks like he's gained 25-30 lbs since high school. Open gym at the Jam?
