Doesn’t matter who it is, SEC is all that matters, once you have one on the books it will be easier to schedule more SEC HnHs

Perhaps it's Mississippi State...our Athletic Director John David Wicker is an alum of Mississippi State!! And perhaps its Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Auburn or Ole Miss? Who knows.

Searching on goaztecs.com on the series record section (which needs updating since it goes up until 2009) it appears that SDSU has never played an SEC opponent in football before. The Missouri Tigers were still Big 12 members when the Aztecs lost that heartbreaker in 2010

I don't want 'Bama...no need to get all our guys hurt. Let's play a middle of the road SEC team.

Seriously, you aren’t going to get a bunch of folks hurt against Bama...
Could you imagine the noise it would generate having Alabama, Georgia or Florida come to San Diego...
It would be awesome!

would guess that it is a school that sees it as opportunity to be able to recruit in CA , if they actually show up here ?

Beating a terrible Vandy, Tennessee or Arkansas team does little for SDSU. Boise got on the national map by beating #4 TCU, #7 Oklahoma, #13 Virginia Tech, and #19 Georgia. [EDIT: agree with aztecryan that Mizzou makes the most sense with Sterk there. SDSU got robbed the last time in 2010.] That last time still stings!! It’s a real shame just how many close calls the Aztecs have had on the road against big time programs. The Notre Dame game comes to mind. Driving to ice it and the fumble still kills me. I was there and talked to Joe Montana after the game at the hotel bar, sure wish I had a chance to rub it in!!

Really, now. Some of you guys think we will host an Alabama, Auburn or Georgia in a 30,000 seat stadium? Okay for the sake of your believing this would happen, and we have to give a $2.5 million gate to get it to happen, let's be honest how many of you will fork out the extra $83 per ticket or say there are to many things to do in San Diego? BTW having a smaller stadium will not drop the current ticket prices.

Duke hosted Bama in their 30K stadium about 5 years ago. Duke required you to purchase season tickets to get ticket to Bama game. Bama fans purchased about 20K Duke season tickets....

First off, Wallace Wade Stadium is a 40,000 seat stadium. Durham, NC is only about 600 miles from Tuscaloosa, AL. At the time the game was scheduled, it was pretty much a guaranteed Big Five non-conference victory for the Crimson Tide. Duke fans upon hearing about this gameDuke basketball was raking in money, hand over fist, and the demand for a team averaging 1.7 wins per year for the previous ten years was not very high, so the 2010 preferred seat season ticket was only $200, so the fans were rewarded for that game, as they sold their tickets to Alabama fans for over $1,900 on the secondary market. I doubt many colleges make that mistake, now. If you check out your season tickets, when they arrive, you will notice each game has its own face value price.

BTW having a smaller stadium will not drop the current ticket prices. The stadium will seat 35k and will have SRO to get to 42k to 45k. I know they are in their conference so they are required to play them, but Vandy is at 40k

I was there and talked to Joe Montana after the game at the hotel bar, sure wish I had a chance to rub it in!! I hear you about that Notre Dame game, and it was just horrendous that the instant replay was not able to accurately show the scene as the RB approached the goal line. That RB who fumbled normally carries the ball high on his chest, and if there would have been a camera at ground level looking up at him it may have shown that a small piece of the nose of the football may have crossed the goal just before he lost control! With a TD at that point in the game we would be up 20-7, and who knows that may have been the play that demoralize Notre Dame and help us win the game! But, as usual the luck of the Irish came back and did us in.

I was at that game and it was extremely disappointing . The Notre Dame Fans however were very nice.
I didn't realize how rural it is. The big restaurant in the area was the local "Golden Corral". The parking lot was full of Amish Buggies and my Brother in law and I had the misfortune of being behind several large families in the buffet line.
