In the PCL Ty France is hitting 440 with a 920 slugging percentage. It is interesting that he has started four games at second base and 11 games at first base. It is the first time he has played second base in professional baseball.

It is the first time he has played second base in professional baseball. Interesting in that playing a position he hasn't played before in pro ball, he has no errors (small sample size--4 games). He also has a career record of 1-0 as a pitcher, appearing in 5 games, with an ERA of 0.00. I don't remember him playing anywhere other than 3rd base for SDSU. The guy is definitely multi-talented. He now has 5 starts at 2nd, and still no errors. The .440 average is 2nd in the PCL. Tied for 1st with 9 HR's. Alone in 1st with 28 RBI. Tied for 4th in doubles with 7. His slugging % leads the PCL, and his OPS of 1.431 also leads the league.

Soooo...potential for a call-up for 2B if the Urias/Kinsler platoon continue their batting woes?

Take everything that happens in the PCL this year with a grain of salt. They've started using the MLB ball for all PCL and IL games in AAA and offense has spiked in a massive fashion.

Not sure that's the case in the PCL, as the league batting average in 2018 was .269. This season (so far) it is .267. Power numbers are up, but average is down slightly. The IL was .252 last season, but this season it is .258.

El Paso and Las Vegas combined for 9 home runs in a game a few days ago. Here is a Baseball America take on it. www.baseballamerica.com/stories/new-ball-is-sparking-an-offensive-explosion-in-triple-a/

Nothing to recheck. Those were the numbers the day I posted them. Also, the new ballpark in Las Vegas will be giving up home runs in bunches. People don't realize just how much higher Summerlin is--much of Summerlin is over 1,000 feet higher than The Strip and Downtown Las Vegas (and Cashman Field). And, the new ballpark doesn't have the 20 foot wall Cashman Field had. EDIT: There have been 50 HR's hit in the new ballpark in Las Vegas in the first 12 games played there--including 0 HR's hit in the first 2 games. Leading up to the El Paso vs Las Vegas 5 game series, 16 HR's had been hit in the first 7 games. But...when El Paso came in for their 5 game series, there were 34 more HR's hit--21 for the Chihuahuas and 13 for the Aviators. Bombs away.

France came out of last night's 9-8 loss to Albuquerque after his first AB. Could have used his bat later in the game, as he came out when they were trailing 9-0. Hope he wasn't injured.

France playing 2nd base for El Paso tonight. Urias has been out since he was removed from Friday's game for precautionary reasons after feeling pain in his shoulder after a swing.

Bring France back for another look. Crushing the ball in AAA should merit a call up, especially for a team like the Padres who are slowly fading into the cellar.

To play....where? 2nd Base or Left Field. See if he can be the next Max Muncy. He hit reasonably well in his first stint with the Padres, if he can keep hitting France would make a valuable piece in a deal for some pitching.
