Either the coaching staff know Narain's plans to transfer and are therefore going to sign Wetzell or they are recruiting Wetzell in case Norain transfers and will wait to offer once they know Narain's decision. I dont see both being on the team team year. They might also be recruiting him because they know he’s better and they only have next years back court for one year.

FFS, there are two open spots. Why would the coaches need a player to depart? I don’t understand. They can add Wetzell and a legitimate starting PF with Narain on the roster.
I think that people have been overly optimistic in evaluating the prospect of an Arop Mensah front court next year. Even if Arop were healthy, these guys aren’t ready to shoulder the load on their own. McDaniels took a lot of pressure off of Nathan last year. Without a front court mate demanding attention and the occasional double team, it wouldn’t surprise me if Nate appears to take a step back this year. Arop showed promise last year but I’m not sold on a team where he’s getting 25+ minutes as a sophomore.

If he is one and done? Then yes should get him rather than have unused scholly. Never know about injuries, grades or what ever else comes up.

so if we sign him. that means only 1 scholarship for some options Jaden , CAL transfer , UNLV transfer , Kentucky transfer , JUCO player or ...
Is it quality or just filling up the scholarships ?

Although regressing is always a possibility (see classic Sophomore Slump in many sports), Nate's obvious natural talent, athleticism and apparent good work ethic should/could result in a much improved offensive player. If he can stay out of foul trouble, I think he can easily move towards double-double land.

Because we are probably going to get the CAL transfer, and are possibly going to get either the Kentucky transfer or Jaden... But maybe if we were to get two of those players Narain could become a grad transfer. Or maybe Narain will play some minutes at the 4 next year. Wetzell must be better then his stats indicate since so many teams are on him.

And now 6'10 Miles Norris and 6'11 Warren Washington becomes avialable for the long term. Plus, WWJD? That is What Will 6'11 Jaden Do? So many bigs, so many questions.
#1. Jaden 6'11 #2. Miles 6'10 #3. Yanni 6'11 #4. Warren 6'11

Just because a player is long term doesn’t make him a solution. To date, Narain has sat one and played three. What kind of solution has he been?

Narain has been disappointing for sure but the year he sat was basically what would have been his Senior year of HS, so it was like he came in as a true freshman. These guys would be coming in as 'Juniors' as far as age, so not really fair to compare the two situations in determining value. It is more are they worth committing a scholarship for 4 years (with only 3 years of PT). I don't know enough about them to be sure but they do have size (which isn't always easy to get) I suspect that Dutcher won't leave a scholarship open this year and we have been in discussion with at least 4 or 5 transfers (plus McDaniels) and I would think one of them would go to a big man (likely one of the 4 listed above). Maybe Norris / Washington WOULDN'T be better long-term and Yanni this year plus open scholarship the following year is better. It will be interesting to see what happens.

We may end up with one open scholarship if Jaden waits till very end and then chooses elsewhere

We need immediate and long term size. So far no replacement for Jalen's 16 & 8, plus his motor and steals.

Flynn is a junior, so unless we add a grad transfer (i.e. Yanni Wetzell) we would only lose Narian & Feagin after the season (baring someone transferring out).
