I would like some additional insights on our schedule. I just saw this today Fresno State vs St. Mary's in Sac at a neutral site. They play both Nevada and Fresno State this OOC. And we got denied a Home & Home over these neutral site games? Any feedback. Looks like St. Mary's has games @asu and @cal next year and neutral vs. Fresno and vs. Nevada. The Wisconsin game was apparently how we got bounced from the home & home. I'm guessing that Bennett may have decided a neutral vs. Wisconsin was better for his team than a 3rd road game in the non-conference. Soria/Dutch can only control so much, but still very disappointing they didn't already have something lined up with a home-and-home so teams aren't having to make either/or decisions.

St. Mary's plays at the Chase Center Saturday, December 21, 2019. In the quadruple header, Saint Mary's will take on Nevada for the teams' second match-up in four years. The other games held as part of the Al Attles Classic include Stanford versus San Diego, California versus Boston College, and Arizona versus St. John's. I thought we got bounced on for that game? I could be totally wrong. Either way we got bounced. Saint Mary's will take on Wisconsin on Nov. 5 in a neutral site match-up at the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I guess one thing we do know St.Mary's plays: Wisco on 11/5, Nevada on 12/21 and Fresno on 11/20. And SDSU doesn't.

Pretty sure that Dutcher said it was the Wisconsin game that killed our agreement with St. Mary's.

UNM schedule via the UNLV writer. Nothing special. Home & home NMSU, plus the Legends Classic: Auburn, Wisconsin, Richmond

understand recruiting comes first but would be nice to see the OOC - unless Dutcher and the staff are going to be forced to load up on the usual lower group of teams to finish off the schedule

Man... Us always being last is so annoying.
Anyway - We are currently looking for a Home and Home against a top 150 team to start in San Diego either Nov. 16 or 17.

Not sure how Phoenix is a "neutral site" unless it's just not on the ASU campus and maybe that counts?

Its repoerted from CBS Sports that St. Mary's has agreed to a home & Home with Utah State starting next year. That's odd, I thought SDSU was in the running for the same series?

The issue is that Utah State is the better team. You are right!!!! Our record is 11-2 against them since they joined our conference!!!!!! They finished much higher in the standings than we did. As Saint Mary’s looks to build an at-large bid resume a win over Utah State would be very helpful and a loss would be less detrimental. At seasons end, the Aggies will be losing a very important pair of players. It’s reasonable to expect them to take a step back in 20/21. Even so, they could easily be on par with the Aztecs a year from now. Even if they fell well below our beloved Aztecs in 20/21 I’d expect their average finish (in the national rankings) over the next two years to be considerably higher than ours.

Blah, blah, blah ... blah. I tend to believe what Dutcher says over your conspiracy theory!!!!!!!! Go negative Nelly. Always the glass is half empty. Take your head out of the sand. The NCAA uses NET rankings as the primary tool to determine tournament berths and sendings. Last year, Utah State held a NET ranking of 29 after the MWC tournament compared to our 115. Utah State is returning all of their key players. They are picked to win the conference and are very likely to be one of the top mid-major teams next season. In selecting a home and home partner Saint Mary’s had to have been looking at the potential quality of the opponent. Utah State is going to be the higher ranked team next year. This isn’t a long term agreement. They are only playing one game in each of the next two seasons. Our five year dominance over the Aggies in head to head matchups is irrelevant to the tournament committee and therefore to the Utah State decision makers. There isn’t even an argument here. Projecting the rankings of our teams in the second year is far more difficult but I think it unlikely that either team will approach the NET ranking that the Aggies will attain in the upcoming season. So they pulled the trigger on the better team.
