History says... SDSU beats USD = Zzzzzzzzzzz. USD beats SDSU= Aztecs aren't going to the tournament. Just DON'T Do It. You must not read History very well. We beat them in 2003, but went to the NIT not NCAA, and in 2015 when we got beat by them at Petco Park we did compete in the NCAA Tournament. So, this past year when we got upset by them we did not go, but that was the first time in the past 15 years. You not afraid of them are you? They do provide an interesting matchup & rivalry, and are 2-2 against us in the past four years. Don't attend the games if you don't like them. No one will miss you. I agree with your point but I believe that year we lost to USD at Petco was the year we went 16-2 in conference and got snubbed in the tourney and went to the NIT (Hemsley's freshman year)

I never want us to engage in something like that again, but I do like the H&H series with USD

Dutcher needs to do what is best for the Aztecs program - team should not have lost to USD at home this year or to Brown - bad losses - that should not happen . Cost team any opportunity to play in NIT - as USD did get to play in it
Las Vegas T-( 4 teams /2 games) Nov 2019 - Texas Tech picked to be a top 20 team this up coming year . Iowa and Creighton are possible top 30 teams - so that will be another T with very difficult competitive teams . We better be prepared as we will probably be rated as the lowest seed
Also ROAD game At BYU - we were not a stellar road team last year

Maybe the only successful venue. There is no excuse for not having a city championship in basketball. It should be annual. And we should beat them unless they come up with a really good team. When UCSD reaches D-1, we should play them, too. It's good for increasing basketball interest in the city. As far as the non-conference schedule goes, I assume we'll see most of the SWAC come through again.

We make more money if it is our home game each time. It is more important to fund the program than have a city championship.

Which always surprised me since we own that venue, made me wonder if that was just gamesmanship by Fish (and now Dutch).

First Dutcher needs to assess talent he has coming back and how he is going to use scholarships . Bring in talent that can be potential starters . Quality not just quantity . Set the tone during summer and fall that we really need to get physical both mentally and physically on the court- play with the edge or chip .Some basics Defense , Rebounding and just smart basketball. Play as a team not just one on one basketball. Team basketball.
Some of the teams we played this year told our guys that they knew we would fold under pressure ....
Then put together a quality schedule that he can work with . Would also be nice if there were some decent home OOC games but understand that is not as easy as we may think .
Do see this as a pivotal year . First year under Dutcher we finished fifth in the conference - did get to MM with MW T win . But because of our poor record we got a bad draw - so the whole season is important including OOC . Can not have the bad losses to teams we should beat . This past year we tied for 4/5 . Poor OOC performance cost us- bad home OOC loses -
Dutcher is a nice guy but this is a year that we need to see better results for a full year .

At no stage in no place has Dutcher ever been described as tough. Nice, yes, incredibly nice and wonderful man. Sweet, even. But not tough. Dave Velasquez, also not tough. The only guy I sensed any toughness in on the staff was Hutson, and he's gone. Ironically, both times against Fresno this year, the Bulldogs came roaring back by showing toughness while the Aztecs FOLDED. LIKE. A. TACO. The notion that a truly wonderful, nice, congenial fellow like Dutcher will instill toughness is, IMO, specious as best. Dutch has all the commensurate skills to make a fine #2, because he's a kind, compassionate nurturer. But he wholly lacks the true Alpha dog required of a successful HC. But that's just my opinion and I could be wrong. Next year should be REALLY interesting.

so what is the excuse for the USD game this year , plus Brown , and CAL
start owning up for games that we lost and should have won .

so what is the excuse for the USD game this year , plus Brown , and CAL start owning up for games that we lost and should have won . That's a completely different issue and no one is denying those losses this past year were awful, or making excuses for them. We're arguing against those who are trying to convince us that playing USD every year is somehow costing us a spot in the dance. Playing them has truly cost us only once - and it would be zero times if not for the ridiculous plan to play the game at the Litter Box.

SMDH at "fans" who are pissed that UCLA won't play SDSU, but don't want the Aztecs to play USD because they are 'beneath us.'

set up as good an OOC as the staff can - then do a lot better during OOC - a very important part of being an at large bid for MM .
The Vegas T- will be difficult and the game at BYU with their New coach will be challenges that need to met .
No excuses go out and win games - Toughness on the court - be ready to play a full 40 minutes

SMDH at "fans" who are pissed that UCLA won't play SDSU, but don't want the Aztecs to play USD because they are 'beneath us.' The major difference is that we actually do play USD every year, including on their home floor. Do we get to cash in all our karma points we've saved up for being such an accommodating program to get a bunch of home and home dates with UCLA?
