When UNLV onboarded TJ Hamburglar, he immediately arranged for a video conference with the entire team. Every. single. player showed up with the exception of one - Shakur. When they put on their dog and pony show a day or two later and picked up TJ Berders at LAS, they flew the guy - pretty much across the street - in a helicopter, rolled out a literal red carpet, and brought out the locals to cheer. Every. single. one. of those players showed up for the presser. Except one - you guessed it. Why is this? Well, it seems apparent he wasn't buying what they were selling. So howcome? It is purely speculative, but I'd guess Marv. I'd guess the unceremonious, prematurely-truncated end to his tenure at UNLV, when he had been helping them improve Y2Y even though he was brought in at the midnight hour with all of two - two - schollie players left on the roster, combined with the fact that while Coach Cornfed was given the VIP treatment upon his arrival, Marv was, by contrast, called a cab for a one-way ride to the airport. Marv got jobbed. And Shakur surely saw this, his loyalty to his HC conflicting with his Allegiance to the State (of dysfunction). So... Marv gets jobbed and one of his best recruits feels snubbed by association. If he told him, "Coach, I don't like how they treated you. I don't want to play here anymore..." Where might MM suggest he go? We've always been about family on the Mesa. Fish had no small role in calling and shilling to get Marv the HC gig in Vegas. So is it a stretch to think that if and when Shakur and MM had "the talk," Marv might have suggested, "Go West, young man... these are not the dumb f*cking droids you are looking for. Your family awaits you." I think not. As I said, it's all speculative, but it's not a large leap to think the warm familial ties between Marv and this program - and especially both Fish and Dutch - very well could have factored into the guidance of where Shakur should go to finish his playing career, because the one thing that appears for certain at this point is that it won't be at UNLV. UNLV should have never hired Marvin, it was a terrible hire from the get go

Aren’t the rules different for a standard transfer vs. a grad transfer? The rules are different, but it just doesn’t matter as the new rule that created the transfer database made all conference rules mute.

Could not agree more - UNLV was lucky to have Menzies. Bring Menzies and Shakur back to the Mesa! Sorry, I don't agree. Menzies is a good coach but he doesn't have the "gravitas" for the the UNLV program from their alumni's perspective. To that I should add that I don't think Otzelberger has it either. He better win early or the coaching carousel will continue. Hell, we can see the same thing on here with so many begging to have Dutch replaced.

To that I should add that I don't think Otzelberger has it either. Since the early 90's, the only UNLV coach with any gravitas is Lon Kruger. Other than that you've got a washed-up Rollie Massimino, Bill Bayno, Charlie Spoonaur, Dave Rice, Menzies, and now an up-and-comer Otzelberger. Oh yea, and UNLV had Chris Beard for 19 days. Oh what could've been...

Juiston is just about the same size as Kawhi. I like that.

Juiston is just about the same size as Kawhi. I like that. He's a lot bigger than Kawhi was when Kawhi was here. Kawhi has obviously gotten a lot bigger in the NBA, so they're probably pretty close now... although I would think Juiston is a bit taller

So, by the time he reached the age of Juiston today, he weighed about the same.

Paired with Jaden, I'm sure that Juiston would be at least as complementary as Jalen would have been. And maybe better.

Little doubt Jayden and Shakur are the priorities to try to sign - but not going to be easy

Doubt we’ll get Menzies back, but our odds of getting Juiston is high

doubt we get coach M. M. back , but could he get a job with another school as HC or even as an assistant and try to get Shakur to come with him ? How confident are you that we can actually sign Shakur ?

Seems like there are some folks that have some inside knowledge...for those people do you think we'll find out soon?
