Link: Voter ID Laws cause no voter suppressionThe claim that voter ID laws cause voter suppression has always been a joke to me. Every legitimate voter has an ID, just as everyone does who cashes a check, used a credit card, drives, flies, uses insurance, applies for government services, travels to another country, etc., etc., (this list could go on and on). Even babies have to have a SSN and be identified. People against voter ID simply want to enable voter fraud, nothing more.

They asked for my ID. I blurted out how amazing it is we have to produce the ID here, but not to vote. two guys in line high fived me. They were just as perplexed as I have been on this issue.

Only one of those things is a constitutionally guaranteed right.

Honestly, give every eligible voter a voter ID card to be paid for by the federal government, and make Election Day a mandated national holiday and you’ve got yourself a deal.

There has been talk for decades of a "National Id Card". Many other countries have them and I have no problem with it. However there have always been many in the anti "Show Me Your Papers" crowd on both the left and the right that are violently opposed.

California is implementing something called "Real ID", which must meet certain Federal standards. You'll need it for things such as passports, but you do not have to get one.

I like the way WA State does it, all registered voters get a ballot by mail, time to study & decide, convenient ballot boxes, or free mailing! Screw the standing in line.
