www.masseyratings.com/cb/compare.htmI got pissed Kenpom still had us ranked upwards around 130 after beating then #39 Utah St, didn't make sense after all if we beat'em we're at least equal, so I decided to Google these rankings and found this spreadsheet that shows there are actually 58 ranking services/indexes whatever you want to call them. They're all listed across the top, and they're linked to their websites. All teams starting with Duke #1, they at least agree on Duke, listed by row show their comparable rankings on all the 58 indexes. Highlighted in red for each team is the service that ranks the teams highest ranking. Our highest ranking is #84 by the Daniel Curry Index. To hell with the other 57 indexes, and Kudos to Daniel Curry Index!!

I think Kenpom has us ranked about where we deserve to be ranked, given the wildly inconsistent way this team plays.

This was by far our best win. We’ve lost to poorly ranked teams and have defeated some terrible squads. I think that being ranked in the 130’s is fair. We are in unfamiliar territory. We aren’t playing to get quality wins against quadrant 1 and q2 opponents while trying to avoid losses in q’s 3 and 4. At this point we are mainly playing spoiler. Our goal is to improve over the next few weeks and secure a conference ranking that will allow for a 3 game MW tournament.

If we're going to have any chance of putting on a late run like we did last year, we better not lose at Colorado State.

If we're going to have any chance of putting on a late run like we did last year, we better not lose at Colorado State. Right and As others have pointed out, we're really so low in the rankings they don't mean anything now, but we must finish strong to get a decent seed in Vegas. I was just surprised there were 58 ranking indexes. Plus Utah must really be pulling for us to finish strong so their loss to us doesn't look so bad to the selection committee. Any team other than Nevada is on the bubble. They'll be seeing blood when we face them, plus we have 2 against Nevada. It's going to be tuff to get a decent seed in Vegas.

If you want to be the best, you got to beat the best…
It's going to be an uphill battle for the rest of the season. They first have to sneak into the tournament with a first round bye but after that it's one game at a time. If they pay attention during the rest of the season, they can learn how to beat their most difficult rivals.
If they sleep their way through the next few weeks, though … so it's gotta continue with a win at CSU tonight.

Then I suppose SDSU's losses to these teams mean SDSU is at least worse than: #281 Cal #251 Air Force #163 UNLV #138 Boise St. #141 Brown. #173 New Mexico

Right set myself up for that. You didn't include the loss to USD, BUT you know we'd kill USD now. I'd bet on it. For the rest of the season with Utah at home, and 2 against Nevada, I'd be happy with a split, but will that be enough for Vegas? See how I changed the topic..hahahha

I see basketball is now even with our other sports............semi- mediocrity. Pretty sad really.

We're currently 4the seed, 3 games out of 1st place with 8 games remaining. Just saying.

Really important to avoid the play-in games.

Really important to avoid the play-in games. Unless we can beat Nevada, it won’t matter. It’s more fun to make it to the finals, but I’d rather be the 3 or 6 than 4 or 5. Catch them in the final round.

Based on that logic Air Force (#254) is equal to us, and we are equal to Air Force (they beat us)....so then shouldnt we also be ranked #254? You have to look at the big picture and not just focus on the small sample size of one game when ranking and deciding who is better. Sometimes teams have bad games, sometimes they have good, you want to evaluate where they consistently are.
