Just started seeing it this week, promoting the new Callaway Apex Irons. His golf bag in in the picture and the SDSU logo is prominently featured. Pretty cool.

Anyone know why Xander did not participate in this last weekend's Pebble Beach Pro Am? The US Open will be there this year.
Yesterday during the Pebble Beach telecast they listed the notable players for this weekend's tournament at Riviera - Xander was one of the listed players. He is still #1 in the FEDEX Cup standings.

Successful PGA Tour pros rarely display their college logos so prominently on their bags. That prime "real estate" is usually taken up by sponsor logos.
Just makes it even more special that Xander proudly displays his SDSU pride for the world to see.

He probably saw the long term weather reports. It was not only rainy, but much colder than normal. Plus some pros don't like to play with the amateurs. For example, before Ray Romano took up golf Tiger Woods was playing right behind Romano's foursome and his antics and slow play drove Woods crazy. The camera shots of Tiger confirmed it. LOL. He's been staying away from this tourney since.

Lets not forget another Aztec, Scott Piercy, who played very well at Pebble Beach.....He finished 10th at the Pro-Am, to win $182,400.00.

He's been staying away from this tourney since. It's always amazing how some of today's players have no respect for history and get annoyed by the celebrity antics. Celebrities like Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams and others helped make this tour. If not for these celebrity tournaments and their sponsors the players wouldn't be playing for anywhere close to the money they are playing for. I was surprised that Scott Stallings played this week because he was quoted in the Union-Tribune as having told him amateur partners to stay away from him as the walked down the fairway off the first tee, that none of them would break 100 and that playing with him was a total waste of his time. Total d***! By contrast, Stewart Cink couldn't have been nicer it was reported and was giving his playing partners putt reads and swing tips.

Stalling comments happened at Torrey Pines by the way during the Pro/Am day on Wednesday prior to the start of the Farmers.

Anyone know why Xander did not participate in this last weekend's Pebble Beach Pro Am? The US Open will be there this year. One of the ironies of playing in the pro-am is that you only actually play 2 rounds of golf at Pebble (if you make the cut). You also aren't playing in anything close to US Open conditions. I think some players would rather avoid the circus of the pro-am and just take some extra time out of their schedule (as they would for any US Open) to travel to Pebble a little early to play it in realistic conditions. Monterey also just isn't the easiest place to travel to and there aren't many lodging options, so it's an expensive trip. Riviera is in LA, and while it isn't as picturesque as Pebble, it's just as nice and is a wonderful course and a great test in its own right.

Definitely will be rooting for Xander in the Master's this season. Wouldn't that be great if he were to win that this year?

I think pro-am's fit just fine with Xanders personality. Dude has nerves of steel. I followed him at Torrey , playing with Tiger ...by the way, nothing sucks worse than playing with Tiger...not Tigers fault but as soon a Tiger would finish a hole or tee off the gallery would run for the next position. X didn't seem fazed or awed at all , walk down the fairway chatting with tiger and then with Finau. Doesn't get rattled. (oh, and I checked his bag - Aztec logo on front - NICEEEE)

He's clutch too. He hadn't played on tour in weeks and was in danger of missing the cut in LA with an opening round of 74 but he shot a 68 today and made it.
