Rocky said he expects 7 kids to sign today. We have 2 in so 5 more to come hopefully.
Glad to see Hoke back at DL. Lawson is and always will be an Aztec so that hurt but Hoke really got a lot out of his guys when he was here before. Another added bonus is that Horton no longer becomes the only guy on staff who could take over when Rocky retires.
I thought Caragher was a great pick for the USD job. Really thought he was a coach on the rise when he was there. But either it's impossible to do much of anything at SJSU or he had a self driving machine at USD. He was on the staff last year and I hoped would help correct the passing game but that didn't happen. So not too excited about this promotion but hope hope he can find what made him that coach on the rise again. An offense that is too one dimensional which needs a star RB to be successful and has had really no passing life to it since Borges left is reaching thinking the Horton/Caragher/Morgan combination is going to make some magic happen. All of them are solid football coaches but innovators they are not.

Does this mean the young OL are not progressing? I get Capra as a replacement for Roemer. I would think one of the young guys would be given a chance over a grad transfer who didn't play much at byu.

We have (or *had* going into this recruiting cycle) a very imbalanced roster of O linemen... VERY young, heavy on RFr & Sophs. So bringing in a couple grad transfers offers more experienced options to compete for starting positions. If the grad transfers win, great... we brought in better players (or at least "more ready" players). If the younger guys win, great... we have depth. Win-win.

BYU grad transfer, Jimenez played center. He brings more veteran talent/competition to the center position which was seriously lacking, experience-wise. The new incoming players will definitely stabilize the OL unit, no more guess work this time. The holes left open by Roemer's departure and Pope's graduation has been patched up.
