The type of QB I'd love to see run our offense if we're going to go to a spread. I have more confidence in my basketball scouting than football, but I like the film a lot... he could be a really good one

The young man looks very impressive operating the RPO that Mira Mesa ran. However, as I understand it, we are simply going to a spread formation with some RPO stuff mixed in. I would love to see Horton and Rocky allow Tumblin and Green show what they could do in a straight RPO offense for a week during the spring but neither coach strikes me as being that daring.
Nevertheless, the offense is going to be altered to such an extent that a pure dropback passer like Salazar no longer makes sense at SDSU. If he had only one more year of eligibility Salazar could be predicted to hang around but given that he has three more years of eligibility, if he doesn't decide to transfer, I'll be surprised.

I'm not real familiar with RPO offense, but are there just certain pass patterns that a QB must be efficient at throwing in order to be able to move the ball? In the highlights I didn't see him throw any quick sideline routes, lots of slants. Any RPO specialist out there? RPO would only be a portion of the spread offense... however, most RPO routes are going to give the QB a slant/hitch option(s) as well as another combination off of the slant/hitch. Way more complex than that. Here is something you can read and in about ten minutes you can pick it up. It relates to the Clemson offense, one that I think the Aztecs should mimic. Clemson RPO

Not sure if you are serious, but if you are here is an easy way to find them. google---insert name (Noah Tumblin)--hit enter--then top of screen look for "video" hit that-- look thru list of videos high-lights of said player or high-light name by dragging across name with left button down ---Right click with mouse on hi-lighted name--a drop down screen appears scroll down to "search google for (person or thing high-lighted prior) click on that name and info pops up. ***Not sure if this makes sense but I put it out there for you because you asked for some video high lights. I hope this helps Thanks. www.hudl.com/profile/7869334/Noah-TumblinAll you need to know about this kid can bee seen at the 1:20 mark of the video. There are two consecutive plays, on the first he throws a deep out (rocket) and on the next he shows "shake" more like you would see from a dominant point guard on the basketball court. DL will have to be very careful when they rush him.

What are the odds that we keep this kid? It would seem with his talent the big wolves will be sniffing around.

Yes the loss of the QB to Georgia Tech hurt. After he went there they got 2 excellent QB and as far as I know he has sat on the bench all the time. I think they are Freshman and Soph so he is doomed to stay on the bench. FALSE He's most likely heading into spring ball as QB1 They also have a new coach and new offense that will be more pro style than option. Johnson is regarded as their best returning passer.

That doesn't negate he was slated to be QB2 behind a 2 year starting senior when he got hurt. That's partly why he's in the driver's seat now. Also, because what I mentioned about what the coaches saw in practice those years regarding his passing.
