Stroman has electric stuff, potential ace. He hasn’t established himself as a top 10 starter, but the ability is there. Limited by injuries last season, but is a GG caliber fielder.

6 years of Logan Allen is pretty tough to give up in exchange for 2 years of Stroman.

Not Allen, please 2018 19 starts in the Texas League: 2.75 ERA and was named Texas League pitcher of the Year 5 starts in PCL: 2.28 ERA. More Ks than innings, 3 to 1 K to BB ratio, WHIP below 1.1 That was at 21 years old. He will be a star pitcher. He should be untouchable.

I caution against translating minor league stats into major league relevance, the same being true in reverse. Take Paddack vs. Gore as an example. A layman would look at the sheer statistical dominance that Paddack displayed, yet Gore's xFIP (his expected result independent of the fielding behind him) was 3.16. Paddack's was 3.12. Logan is going to be a solid mid-rotation, probably a lower-tier #3 starter.

It looks to me like Preller isn’t going to make a move for a starter. Oh well, prepare for another sub .500 campaign.

It seems like there is a log jam this year in the FA market which is inhibiting trades as well. I hope the Pads don’t bring in a 3rd baseman, I want to see Ty France get a chance. Starting pitching, there seems to be lots of candidates, but little proven MLB success. I’m curious to see if Espinoza, Allen, Quantrill or someone can come up to the majors and displace one of last years mediocre starters.

Owners pocketing revenue when it's at an all time high is killing the market and will likely result in a stoppage when the new CBA comes around. You could legitimately build a wild card contender all off the remaining free agents.
