Without commenting on the merits of the case and/or any wrongdoing... Happy for him and his family that there will be no jail time - probation only.

Such a shame.
A quality guy who got caught up in the bright lights.
I hope it's not the last we hear from him.

Depends on the judge. Some always follow a plea deal, some do most of the time, and some do their own thing. Hopefully for him it's the former.

His offenses are quite troubling in the landscape of college sports but trivial in the in the world of justice

And yet Sean Miller is on record bribing a kid with a 100 grand bribe and he is still coaching.
Not defending tony bland but I am sure what he did is still common practice for many recruiters.
Why do you think it takes so long for basketball recruits to decide?

A bunch of people facing charges and the first one up gets off with probation. I see two possibilities:
(1) he sung like a canary and heavier charges against others will come later
Or (2) the investigation has no teeth.

Sad for TB and his family. Will be interesting to see if this touches the SC head coach. What is the final price of his plea deal?
IS TB now kryptonite for life in college basketball?

It will be interesting to see what the NCAA does after all these FBI trials are concluded.

Should the other coaches get off scot free the whole investigation was a sham and waste of time. If you keep letting the big fish get away nothing will change! JMO

All this, and what happened to SDSU when the football team got caught running around in the sand down at South Mission a few years back. Have times really changed or not (P5 vs G5)?
