The single most important figure in the history of the comic book medium has died at 95.
Stan Lee co-created The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, The X-Men, Black Panther, Iron Man, and Daredevil, among many others. His idea at the beginning of the 60's was to reimagine how superheroes we're presented. Lee focused on their flaws and real world personal problems, something unheard of at that time.
Working with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, Lee ushered in The Marvel Age of comics and revitalized a sagging industry.
In 1972 Stan moved into a role as Publisher and Editor in Chief for Marvel, as well as acting as something of an ambassador to the media for comic book creators in general.
In his later years, Stan made cameo appearances in most Marvel movies while continuing to make public appearances and appearances on various news and talk shows on TV.
He will be greatly missed.
Excelsior!
