Hopefully we can luck out with another late riser like we did Matt Mitchell, cuz right now it looks like Seiko or Schakel are gonna have to learn how to play some point, and even then Malachi Flynn is gonna have to play 32+ minutes a game every game the next two seasons.

The only good thing about this was that Boogie couldn't find a USC hat. That was hilarious. I mean if there's one hat that's beyond easy to find in So. Cal., it's a USC hat.

Definitely not time to panic. I'm pretty certain the coaches knew this was the direction he was going in, so they will have contingency plans.

A September offer means he was not their first choice. He was recruited to fill a position. Hope he does well, but there may be limited opportunities.

He’ll be back in a few years.

He’s a career 6-8 minute a game bench player for a perennial national title contender. I hope Duke hasn’t deluded him into false promises of stardom. If he’s good with that sort of situation then the best of luck to him.

Yeah, he'll be back. There's a 5 star player being recruited by Duke every year, he will soon be last year's news.
Too many big fish in a small pond.

Yup, he'll be a bounce back. Duke didnt even care until September when they missed on other players.

Always wondered...Do those "One and done" members of the Duke Basketball Team attend class ? If so, why ? If not , are they really student athletes ?

Always wondered...Do those "One and done" members of the Duke Basketball Team attend class ? If so, why ? If not , are they really student athletes ? I can’t imagine how difficult it would be for a 17 year old kid to tell coach K no thanks, being courted by Duke is the ultimate flattery. When he started asking “what do y’all think”, on social media I figured he wasn’t the type of kid that would see the value in loyalty to the Aztecs who were on him from day 1. Also not able to see the value of a 2 way commitment, Duke will continue to recruit top 25 National talent and he will be fortunate to get the PT, like others have said smaller fish in a big pond vs big fish in a small one 🐟 I believe he should have chosen the big fish plan.

Duke: better school, better facilities, more exposure, more prestige, private air travel, higher level of competition, world class coaching, visits from a deep and storied alumni. Boogie is a confident highly rated recruit. He will have ample opportunity to earn playing time. I think that he’s the real deal and will perform. His goal is the NBA. This is the best path to the NBA. The only things standing in his way is the threat of injury and the possibility that he isn’t good enough. Norman Powell could have gotten all of the minutes at SDSU. He chose UCLA and followed a well worn path to the NBA.

Im still not over Boogie choosing Duke so I decided to see what Duke fans and writers thought. It's what we have been saying. They say hes a Nolan Smith-type and provides some depth. But that they need more impactful guards. Doesnt a kind like NBA material to me and he was sold a bill of goods. I know the kid personally and I didn't like the stuff he was told by his handlers. Kid is good, real good but not a one and done for sure which means he will be recruited over in his 2nd year if he makes it that far. He's no Tyus Jones or even a Derryck Thornton.

If he is talented enough The NBA will find him. They didn't miss out on Kawhi because he was at SDSU. If Boogie is getting 25-30 minutes a night good for him. If he turns out to get 5-10 and is the second or third option then maybe he made the wrong choice. Hoping the best for him but we shall see.

He became a top 5 NBA player. He didn’t become that guy on campus. It could be argued that his playing a different position than he would need to as a pro actually impeded his development and caused him to drop out of the lottery. What would Kawhi have accomplished on another team? Who knows? His capacity for basketball and willingness to work were going to get him there no matter what.
