If the Rockies lose tonight, it's squarely on him. Strange, head-scratching decisions double switching Charlie Blackmon out of the game (When he's been the only real offensive threat all night) and not putting Davis in to pitch to Baez. This is a game nobody seems to want to win.

This is a game nobody seems to want to win. Thought the exact same thing. I also hated yanking Freeland after 82 PC. But that seems to be CW with MLB managers these days. I'm happy the Rox pulled it out. My only regret is that they have to play the Brewers. Growing up hating (and still do) the Braves and Dodgers I don't want to see either of them in the NLCS. EDIT: GO A'S!

EDIT: GO A'S! I don't know what's worse: being a fan of the Pads, who average 90-100 losses a year, or being a fan of the A's, who consistently defy expectations to make the playoffs only to set an MLB record for consecutive losses (8 and counting) in winner-take-all games.

Oakland needed to go with Fiers yesterday. Starting a reliever was a bad idea against that lineup. You're banking on everyone else having to be perfect, some in extremely high leverage situations. Odds are just massively stacked against you in that case.

I know the whole "opener" novelty was working during their stretch after Manaea et al went down, but I did not have high hopes of that working out in a 1-game playoff in NY.
