Read on twitter that Illinois people think he will commit to them and sooner than later. They acknowledged that its down to them and us.

Both excellent choices for the young man. Really nice for him to have worked hard enough to earned this.

I think it is Illinois. When Illinois offered McClendon he put the eye emojis in response. Also he put a calendar with Saturday circled on his IG story. Which might be a hint he's committing. All the signs point to Illinois as their is many, but you never know

Personally, even without my allegiance to my alma mater, I would take the short drive to the ocean air over the drive past the pig farms.

I know SDSU showed him more love. However, Illinois hasn't singed a recruit so Hawkins would be the centerpiece. Our Aztecs have 3 commits and the best class in years since 2014 of Trey, Pope, Zylan and Zabo. Something tells me he is going to the Illini, but why settle for a school that wont make the Tourney. Hawkins should put 10 toes down in San Diego.

If he goes to Illinois I think being able to focus on a true post player will be a blessing in disguise.

Well if he doesnt commit to the Illini or Aztecs, its a spring decision. OVs to Rutgers, SDSU, Illinios, it looks like USC sked'd is now out. He's shown love to UNM, but not so much to Nevada and DePaul.

UNM, Reno, etc are just window dressing right now...

Strange that Hawkins is down to Illinois, Rutgers and SDSU. Where are the Big Boys?
Over the last two years Illinois has finished 11th and 10th in the Big 10. They haven't been to the NCAA Tournament since 2013.
Over the last two years Rutgers has finished 14th and 12th in the Big 10. They haven't been to the NCAA Tournament since 1991. They were last invited to the NIT in 2006.

Mean tell him, just in case... plus he has two other recruits that he is going after for 2021... You can look back and see that I haven’t been actively talking about Coleman’s recruitment, nor Che... you can go look and see that about two weeks before his commitment I heard from a reliable source that as long as we didn’t recruit a direct competitor Che was going to sign with SDSU. I have heard from the same source that Coleman is down to just two, SDSU and Illinois... the contact could be wrong, but I have been told that the others are still very interested and Coleman hasn’t told UNM, Rutgers and Nevada that they are out, but effectively they are out.

will Illinois guarantee that they will not recruit other guys this year or next year that play the same position as Coleman P5 schools do that often

He must feel he can play immediately at these schools.

Boise Aztec has been spot-on on multiple occasions and I appreciate you sharing your inside info. Are you hearing if Dowuona is going to make a decision soon? I think he's taking another visit this weekend and that may be his final one. Sounds like from an earlier post from you that perhaps Hawkins is waiting to see what Dowuona does? With 1 scholarship left, does it seem like Dowuona has priority?

I haven’t heard anything on Dowuona, it appears that he is being very quite and not sharing too much with the schools that are recruiting him...
