No need. He's going to do what he wants to do. I appreciate he is willing to spend money to improve the team, but he needs to stay out of the baseball operations. Nothing good comes out of that. See examples in Miami and Baltimore for proof. Ryan, i wasn’t being sarcastic. The team needs more passionate fans.

They are doing alright. Plenty of intelligent folks out there who care. I think that's why attendance was actually up slightly this year. They just need to stay patient, fans and the front office. 2019 is a huge year for Preller, Fowler and the rest.

Galvis can be a stabilizing veteran presence if the Padres go with Urias and Tatis. Spangenburg and Galvis will provide some valuble depth to an infield of Hosmer, Urias, Tatis and Villanueva/Myers, since there is a history of injuries throughout that infield. Villanueva should probably be traded, he has more value right now than he will ever have, get a starter. I would also move one of the outfielders for another starter, bring in someone like Cole Hammels or Zack Wheeler, if practical. I would not trade Renfroe or Cordero, and also would consider permanently moving Mejia into an OF spot, signing a journeyman veteran C, Martin, Flowers or Suzuki to back up Hedges.

Of course the solo homer isn’t winning baseball. A .234 team batting avg. and .298 OBP leads to lots of solo homers. Reyes hit 16 dingers but drove in a paltry 31 runs. Wil Myers 11/39, Hedges 14/37, Villanueva 20/46, Renfroe 26/68. That’s a lot of solo shots.
Dingers are good, but OBP and RBI’s are better.
