Too bad, he is a great football coach. This will probably wreck him.

The first thing you have to ask is why did his wife not inform Urban of the situation? Then, if for some reason she didn't he should have kept an eye on Smith knowing his problem from the past, and asked him how things were going at home. Letting a problem like this get out of control, and then claiming not to know anything about it will not protect your job, and probably has put Meyer in BIG Trouble with the possibility of losing his fine position. Smith can't be that great a coach that he needed to protect him like this!

Suspended 3 games. AD suspended for a few weeks as well.
Seems fair IMO.

To me it’s laughable but not at all surprising😳

Meyer got off fairly easy. Besides being suspended for three games, and losing pay they should have fined him about $10K! That may make him think & use his head more!

In a standard work year (I know he doesn't work a standard work year) his hourly rage for 2018 is $3750 per hour. So you are fining him the equivalent of 2 hours and 40 minutes. I think a 100k fine would be more noticable when you make $7.8m

The Board of Trustees never gave any serious consideration to firing him. This was a parade to pacify outsiders. The punishment is a joke, as is the lack of accountability and understanding. Urban helped the Smith's get counseling after the first incident, back in 2009. In the press conference, he basically said he failed to understand the magnitude of the issue. When he was asked if he had a message for the victim, he said "I'm just sorry we're all in this situation." It was pathetic.

You got that right! I really don't understand how any players on the team can believe in anything he says from now on. What about new recruits & their families also? Can they trust in what he says to them anymore? That would be enough for me as a new recruit to want to change my priorities if I were thinking about signing up at Ohio St., and go somewhere else!

And what’s an even bigger joke is that he gets to coach the team during practice the three weeks he’s suspended from coaching in the games. He’ll probably figure out a way to have contact with the sidelines during the games😳😳

Agreed. Harbaugh's gotta be licking his chops re recruiting. I just watched the Happy Valley doc last night. Along with that and MSU, you'd think that would be a wake-up call for these coaches/unis. Apparently not.

So, Meyer's 3 game suspension is over, and now he gets to coach in the fourth game this Saturday. What a break! He should have been out for 10 games! It should be an easy game since it will be Tulane. I can see the final now, 86 to 3! Next game will be much tougher vs. Penn St. on the road. Their first road game also. Hope they get beat in that one!
