Justify becomes only the 13th horse to win the Triple Crown today at Belmont Park. Wire-to-wire winner.

Impressive, even with the "bodyguard" tactic Baffert used to block other horses with a horse that had no chance to win. I really don't want to see the accomplishment of the TC get watered down. To me, it's one of the hardest things to do in sports. This was a WEAK crop of 3 year olds by most measures, so hopefully the quality will increase in the years to come. Side by side, I think American Pharoah was a much better horse.

There was only one part of that race where Baffert's other horse could have been accused of interfering, and it was only for a short time in the first turn. Before and after that, there was plenty of room for another horse to move up and put pressure on Justify. Sour grapes by other owners. Yes, the field wasn't that great, but Justify was never pressured. You can only beat who is on the track. Oh, and the track stewards thought there was nothing fishy about the race.

Of course the stewards are not going to intervene - It was a race for the Triple Crown. It would have had to been an absolutely egregious violation to warrant an inquiry in the race of that magnitude. It was smart by Baffert to employ that gameplan. That's why he is where he is.

And Repole, the whiney losing owner, has proposed using the same tactic in other races that he has had two entries in. The guy is a hypocrite.
