If I was an owner I'd be selling my team pronto. NFL franchise values are peaking/peaked and going to start trending down over time IMO.
The game is going to be touch football pretty soon

I kinda think trying to reduce traumatic brain injury is a good thing...
I don't know (nor care) enough to opine on the specifics of this particular rule change, but *something* has to be done.

It's turning into rugby. Soon, helmets won't be needed anymore.

I don’t know it’s been “ruined” anymore than when TR “ruined” it back in the day. Slow-motion death via CTE — instead of being killed at the point of attack — is still death. NFL, for the moment, will go on just fine with the rule change.
What will cause football’s slow decline is not viewership. What will cause it is parents at the grassroots rightfully blocking their children from participating — first at upper income levels and then spreading to lower income levels as time goes by.

Agreed on all counts. Something had to be done, and I'm sure there will be a lot of bitching & moaning for a while about it, but eventually people will adapt. They may have to expand rosters though, as we could see 6-7 ejections a game for a while...

I am actually kind of glad. Football has been ruined for me for a long time and due to various reasons. The future of football was doomed long before this new rule. It had no future with or without this new change. To me, football and sports in general is no different than movies and tv shows. It is just entertainment. That is all. It has no bearing on my future. It doesn't (and shouldn't) determine how I treat others. At the end of the day, it is a means of entertainment, and if "my" team loses. Oh well. I am not going to cry or go on twitter and harass the players. Fans have ruined sports, not the owners, AD's, and public leaders. When I was a kid, I was a crazed sports fan. Heck wall the way through college I was a crazed sports fan. It was my life and I knew nothing else. NCAA Football, NFL and MLB were HUGE for me and pathetically...my life. I ate, drank, $#!+, slept sports 24/7. Was on the verge of a mental breakdown whenever my teams lost big games, big playoff games or lost the NCAA championship, or World Series or Superbowl. It was absolutely devastating to me. Then one day, it just clicked. I was fortunate enough to see high level collegiate and even professional sports from the inside..from a standpoint that 99.99% of people don't get to see. From within there, I got to truly see how disgusting fans are. I also got to see how these athletes are humans..most being absolutely incredible people on personal level. Experiencing all of that opened my eyes to how pathetic one must be to get so emotionally and violently involved in a sport as a fan. Athletes receive death threats now when they underperform or even death threats from their rival fan base when they do amazing. Heck, the athlete's wives and children receive death threats and absolutely horrible abuse. These fans act like this sport is there life. They act like the future of their own life is determined by a meaningless sporting event. I then see how this place is whenever our teams loses and how disgusting people can be. Yes, I would love for SDSU to win. But when they don't, do I get upset? Absolutely not. WHy would it? I am still the same person with the same house, same job, same family, same friends, same goals, same interests whether my teams win or lose - whether player Joe Blow becomes a Hall of Famer or the greatest bust in sporting history. These games only mean something to the coaches, players and paid staff. It is their jobs and careers. We have our own, and it isn't our teams. Trust me, I use to be the guy that go so emotionally attached to sports and experienced the highs and lows. Then one day my eyes were opened. Now, sports is no different than watching a movie or tv show. It is entertainment. Wouldn't even consider it hobby. I still have my teams that I root for. If they win, it is a cool experience. If they lose, I say "shucks" and get on with my day. I can't even fathom the type of person someone is when they verbally and physically a coach or player and then even take it to the level of attacking their family. People like that need to be forced to their knees and shot in the back of the head. What an absolute disgusting person they must be. But it is not just those people. I know most don't do that, but most do bitch and moan and cry like babies. Over what? When a favorite character of yours dies in a movie, do you act the same way? Just like that movie, professional sports is entertainment and has absolutely zero baring on your life other than some good beer and some good times with friends cheering on a team. It should end there. But people take it too far and because of them, I am glad football is dying. So, long story short. I am glad football is dying. It is not safe. This is coming from a guy who was one of the biggest NFL and NCAAF fans there is. But then one day, I grew up. Heck, I use to collect baseball cards too, but I grew up. Seeing how fans are makes me glad the sport is dying. The game itself I love. But it has just gotten too f****d up - like many other things in this world. There needs to be a huge awakening on what is actually important in life and to oneself.
