He was considering gaining eligibility, which could have meant a return to FSU. So it's relevant to SDSU hoops. Since he went pro it doesn't fall in with "recruiting" and is MWC related... Just saying...

I didn't realize FSU left our conference... Didn't he attend a prep school in the fall of 2016 and then head back to Australia? Not sure how that is FSU or MWC related.

He played as a developmental player in the Australian league with the plan to get eligible & go back & play in the states, with FSU having the inside track. FSU is in the MWC making it directly related. Looks like he spent more time working on his game than his books. This kid is a legit player though & could have been a game changer had he returned to the states & decided to play with his brother at FSU.

The 'plan' as far back as last December was going professional. There was 0% chance he was coming back heading to Fresno State for 2017/18.

Considering that just in February he was still looking to go back to the states I think your info is lacking. From the article in FEBRUARY, 2017: "McDowell-White still hopes to gain academic eligibility for college in the United States. But Ferguson getting drafted this June might just show him and other young Australians that they don’t have to leave the country to have success." If the plan was to never come back he would have turned pro & cashed a paycheck. Instead he was their "developmental" player. Things changed, and can't blame him for deciding to follow the money. McDowell-WI think your common sense is lacking. One doesn't try and gain academic eligibility in America by leaving a prep school in America... to head back home in Australia. Five star recruits don't attempt to gain academic eligibility after having sat out a year... and then head to Fresno State.

Yea, I'm sure he was lying, and I'm sure 5*'s who didn't gain academic eligibility initially prefer to play for free over turning pro. Yep, makes sense. And yes, you can get academically eligible by going back to Australia. Ever wonder how guys are eligible when they come directly from Australia, or do you think every Aussie goes to school in the US first?

How did going to school in Australia work out the first time around? Academically ineligible. Why not focus on academics in Southern California without the distractions of home? Play for free... for what? A couple of months? Yeah, real large dent in the pocket book of an 18/19 year old kid destined to have a long career in Europe. I'm gonna take an educated guess that his family is pretty well off since his Dad is a living legend in Australia and was named to the All-Century team. It wasn't too long ago that this kid was considering Australian Football over basketball.

As of December 2016, he had failed to gain eligibility from spending the fall semester at a prep school in Anaheim. As far as I can tell, he hasn't been associated with Fresno St for more than seven months. Ineligible out of HS in Australia, ineligible after trying U.S. prep school... yeah, I'd say pretty OT.
