Good, fun interview. AF is definitely the critical game in September! I think most people understand the difference between P5 & G5 football and saying 1 isn't "big time" is just 1 way of labeling the gap. Major/Mid-Major; Tier 1 vs. Tier 2, etc. It's not like he compared SDSU to USD or FCS. SDSU v FSU definitely isn't as "big time" as USC v UW, etc. That's not belittling SDSU in any way, it's just reality. By saying that it doesn't mean you're not excited about the team or don't support them.

The context was saying talking about Soccer City, and he made the comment in order to infer that SDSU football was minor leagues, so SDSU should cower to MAJOR League Soccer. It is like when somebody calls someone a "coward" in an article (Acee). He used language that he would never say to someone directly. It was pathetic. I wish Rocky would treat Kaplan like Jeff Horton did last season when Kaplan asked Horton stupid questions.

I heard Kaplan live when he made the remarks "against" SDSU weeks ago. I was so pissed off I could barely drive...he completely belittled SDSU. Kaplan is on my shitlist (not that he cares).
Anyone have a link to the Horton / Kaplan interview from last year as I'd love to hear it?

It is like when somebody calls someone a "coward" in an article (Acee). He used language that he would never say to someone directly. It was pathetic. I wish Rocky would treat Kaplan like Jeff Horton did last season when Kaplan asked Horton stupid questions. Again, different perceptions. I heard the interview and had no issue with the comment. I don't define the MWC as "big time football", yet I still love following the conference. It didn't bug me at all. There's a reason (several actually) SDSU has said 30-35k for a stadium to start is fine, as long as we can expand (feasibly) when necessary, and has mentioned getting a P5 bid as the catalyst. P5 is simply a bigger arena. Bigger money, bigger stage. Right now SDSU isn't beyond partnering with a MLS expansion team - a USC would be. The MLS is the highest level of soccer played in the US; the MWC is not the highest level of college football played in the US. I get his point as it relates to soccer. Most of the country views the P5 as the "big leagues" and G5's as "minor leagues". There's a reason they get 7 NY bowl spots to the G5's 1. Fair or not, that's a legit perspective. Doesn't mean SDSU doesn't play in "big time" games and isn't "big time" among its G5 brethren, but I didn't take exception to Scott questioning the assertion that SDSU plays 'big time football'. It's a great program, and big time for many of us, but it's not big time nationally. My hope is someday we are.
