Has anyone heard anything about this guy transferring from up the road to SDSU & punting for us next year. Seems like a guy who can't stick anywhere, but his resume is pretty strong. Would love it if it's true. New punter??

New punter??For someone who knows so much "insider" info and jumps at the chance to tout the virtues of pretty much every player on every team at SDSU as well as any prospective athletes, I'm surprised you didn't know about or haven't told us yet about this guy.

He spent a summer with Purdue in 2014 and the same fall with Arkansas State and then was a walkon at Arkansas in January 2015 and punted in their spring game that same year. He left their and transferred to FCC where he averaged 37 yards per punt last year. www.cccaasports.org/sports/fball/2016-17/players/austinmcgeheepd5a?view=career&pos=pAnd then posted that he committed to North Texas... And now he is retweeting SDSU Recruiting Tweets. Am I missing something, he doesn't seem all that great to me.

The "good" news is we can count on you to provide a negative spin on things, thanks for being consistent... He posted about a potential punter and instead of saying something about that, you chose to say something about the poster. You do realize what you did right? You realize that there was nothing of value by posting that, right? The only reason would be to get a reaction from him. You must be happy since you got a reaction from me...

As reported elsewhere... this probably not our new punter. New guy (allegedly, but source has a strong track record lately) comes from JC with 3 years of eligibility.
(Not my info, just drawing from other sources)

We have people on this board who live for being a-holes. Pay them no heed.

Wasn't there an article/ report/ or a mention regarding one of the Aussie punters, kicking for La. Tech or La. Lafayette? He was seriously thinking of coming to SDSU for his final year? We certainly need someone.

sounded as if Coutts was going to be the answer but lure of P5 did it again . Was Boudreau ( sp ) listed as punter previously. Would also guess there could be options from JC's for punters or even soccer guys .

Would also guess there could be options from JC's for punters or even soccer guys . If all else fails we could use the Coryell method. Back then we couldn't afford scholarships for any kicking specialists. So, at the beginning of fall practice Coach Coryell would line everyone up and see who could kick the best. That's how the punter and place kicker were chosen.

Apparently this new guy referenced above was at Santa Monica CC & then a PWO at Boise St who apparently decided to leave his "dream school". Averaged 43.8 yrds/punt at Santa Monica as a FR in '15, before RS'ing last fall & walking on at BSU last spring. The eligibility rules when it comes to PWO's is always fuzzy to me, but supposedly he's a 3 to play 3 guy, eligible immediately. We'll see if this is accurate, but it's from "Aztec Tom" who apparently has been. If he's someone who'll give us 43.8 I'd be pretty damn excited, but odd that he decided to bail on BSU, especially after saying it was his dream school. Makes you wonder about him?? I'm just excited to hear we have competition for Baron at the P spot! Not clear if he's on scholly or if he's a PWO here as well (& don't know where we stand on available scholarships from the 2016 class, which I believe he'd be applied towards if he is on scholly)?

Our last punter didn't get a scholarship until he proved himself, so Rocky will probably follow that philosophy again. But at least he can point to the fact he kept his word with Tanner Blain by awarding him a scholly after (I believe) one year.

Yep, and I believe if offered after next season he only counts against the 85 man limit & not the 25 per class limit.

Feel confident our Special Teams coach will make the best of the guys we have . While great to have a punter who can change field position or pin in opponents . Most important to have a guy that does not fumble the snap or shank punts to put us in an awkward situation .
Snappers - believe we are in good position there . Have learned that we need to have a reliable back up .

He RS'd at SM last year & enrolled at BSU for spring camp then apparently left recently and now will be joining SDSU. Seems odd he'd leave his "dream school" that quickly. One possible theory, although I doubt it's true, is he hoped to get a scholarship for the fall & BSU didn't give him one and we did?? I don't see that happening, but you never know? Either way, once confirmed it's great to have him on board. Let's just hope he sticks here & doesn't bounce somewhere else.
