Retired at age 49 to spend more time with his family. I'm happy for him if that's truly the reason.
Mid-July is a wierd time to be fired, but it's also a wierd time to quit.

Wow is right. Good for him if he's placing family over the job, and no reason to doubt his words until proven otherwise. Very commendable.
He was just on the verge of breaking out there though. Someone is going to inherit a pretty damn good team.
Don't have time to check but if I recall they had 1 hell of a recruit. Curious if he stays now?

Very hard to maintain a family with a time consuming job as a coach. Best of luck to him.

I don't believe the "retiring for family" story for one sec. It's nice it was able to be portrayed that way, but by no means do I think it's true. We do have the luxury of watching to see if it's indeed truly a family matter.

I didn't realize sjsu had a paid coach.
Thought it was a parent volunteer position.

Rent is insane in the bay area. Even a good income isn't good enough there

I also detect a potentially odiferous zephyr in this resignation.

Any thoughts on who they get to replace him? Could it be...Dave Rice? Would he leave UW to get back into a coaching gig and/or wait for something better? Craig Neal? Romar & Gottfried are probably out of their range.
Not the easiest gig but Wojcik did all the heavy lifting to get them out of the APR mess & whoever takes the gig has some very good players, assuming he can keep them. Barry is a stud recruit at center, plus Clarke is among the best players in the conference.

But, with the loss of a family member it does make some stop in their tracks and reevaluate their position and priorities.

Coach H will get better offers than sjsu---a potential ticket to oblivion.

SDSU just used the savings between Fish's salary and Dutcher's to give a raise to all the assistants so Hutson's now earning just short of a quarter million per year. Wojcik was only being paid 200 grand more than that. Would Hutson take over a mess like SJSU for that kind of money? I wouldn't, particularly because Hutson is now the assistant HC so if Dutch should somehow get to a final four in the next few years and then receive an offer he couldn't refuse from a P5 school, Hutson would probably become the head man at SDSU.

i suspect Brandon Clarke is going to become a hot commodity. Clarke is a stud. I suppose it's not too late for him to transfer. Anyone know if there's a special MWC in-conferece transfer rule?

Mike Davis, Knight's successor at U Indiana, has thrown his name into the hat. Has been really good at Texas Southern.
Could be a good hire.
