Cool. I actually am in the process of watching the Portland vs Kansas City game. It actually looks fun. With that, it is the sixth sport in the US, will never be close to CFB, and I cannot wait until the ponzie scheme collapses. All Hail Montezuma!

I've fallen in love with soccer over the past 4-5 years. Still haven't gained any interest in the MLS. Go watch European soccer like the England and Spain. Their level of soccer is in a different world and fun to watch.

Damn, definitely looks like a friendly match squad. There's only 2 guys in that lineup that are part of the actual rotation of the USMNT (Zusi and Guzan). Looks like with this friendly, Bruce Arena is trying to get some newcomers some playing time, and the fringe guys some action.

Acosta, Villafana and Arriola all started against Mexico in the last WCQ with Gonzalez who came off the bench a starter against Mexico. But in general you are correct this is more of a B team. Corona, Dwyer, Acosta, Arriola and Rowe all showed well and moved closer to the 23 man roster for September WCQs.

is there another game 7/8 ? Yes, the game on 7/8 is our first match in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Joe Corona is on the 23-man roster for that game. It is unclear if he will play, as starting lineups aren't usually released until the day of the match.

We will play Panama that night and it will be the toughest game of the opening round as Martinique and Nicaragua are really pretty bad. I would say it is about 85% likely that Corona starts.

I was about to say that there's almost zero chance that he plays, but then I looked at the Gold Cup roster Bruce Arena picked and this isn't even a B team. It is more so a C team. He left out most of the solidified players. So, he is clearly using the Gold Cup as a tryout and to get some inexperienced guys some experience to see what they could do and maybe a few of these guys will make the World Cup roster. But on the real USMNT squad, Corona is a fringe guy and would be coming in off the bench at best. He would play right midfielder in Bruce Arena's diamond and it would be tough to beat Darlington Nagbe for that position. It's great that Joe Corona is getting a second chance but this isn't the real USMNT. This is a B/C team. Hopefully he can earn that bench spot with the real USMNT. The Gold Cup will be a great opportunity for that since he will be getting a lot of playing time. All of the actual USMNT midfielders are not on this squad.

You are correct this is a B team, not sure Inwould say C there are five staters against Mexico on the team... Corona was playing the 10 role on Saturday and looked a lot like Pulisic. If he does well he could get called in to the 34 man for WVQs in September, but yeah he would likely be a sub and only get called in if we are looking for offense...

There's only 4 guys on the Gold Cup roster that started against Mexico in the world cup qualifying match the other week. Guzan, Gonzalez, Acosta and Arriola. There are 14 guys on this Gold Cup roster that weren't on the world cup qualifying squad...14 out of 23 is pretty heavy. So, him, or anyone making this roster doesn't mean theyve made it. This is a tryout roster. The starting midfield for the actual USMNT is pretty set. Especially with Bradley and Pulisic. Nagbe is up there too. Acosta and Arriola's stocks are pretty solid. So, Corona is competing for a bench spot for the USMNT WC roster. It does hurt him that the guy in his position is the current and future star for the USMNT (Pulisic). But with all that said, this is an amazing opportunity for him. I think he has a legit shot at making the preliminary WC qualifying roster and then taking it from there fighting for the final roster come next year.

I was wrong, Villafana didn't start against Mexico, but he has started four of the last five matches for the A team and Zusi was a sub against Mexico. McCarty, Besler, Morris and Hedges were all on the roster for the Mexico match and Bedoya played against TnT. So again, with about half the roster against Ghana also on the roster against Mexico and several of them starting against Mexico or TNT I would still say that this roster is at worst a B team. Having said that, I would agree that Corona is either 2nd or more likely third choice behind Pulisic.

Joe Corona is starting again against Panama in our opening match this afternoon in the Gold Cup.
The game is on Fox, coverage starts at 1:30 but kickoff will probably be at 2:00 (40 minutes from now)

0 for 2 on penalties? Got to bury those. Arena didn't like that at all. Both guys ended up getting subbed out. Shoulda been 5-0
