In general terms (I know nothing about this particular recruit), are there really any multi-sport college athletes any more? It seems like you are advocating (perhaps tongue in cheek) that Rocky and Dutch both give him a pitch and that he would be recruited for both sports. I can't think of many in my lifetime that have successfully navigated the demands of that scenario. Two that have local ties in that regard, of course, are T. Gwynn (Drafted by both the Padres and Clippers) and Dave Winfield. I think Winfield was drafted in 3 sports, (including football, which he never played in College).

Ok, but I was talking more recently. Tebow is the only guy that comes to mind who is still actively playing. The guys you mention are good examples, but long since retired. I guess my subtle point is that it seems that specialization is starting at a younger age than ever, and by the time these guys get to college, they have been focusing year round on one sport for 7-10 years. My daughter was a very good softball player, and an excellent soccer player (at the highest club level). Her soccer coaches were not at all on board with sharing her during softball season. I'm sure that for guys, the pressure to focus on one sport is even greater.

It’s particularly difficult to imagine a basketball team being comfortable with a PF playing DE on the football team. The risk of injury is concerning as is the lack of free time available to work on one’s game in the offseason. From a football standpoint, I’d be concerned that a basketball player would be less able/likely to add and maintain optimal size for the position. Scholastically, the demands on a one sport athlete’s time is daunting enough.

He got an SDSU offer for basketball, not football. 4-star player for either sport. It looks, like he wants to play both ways. but, his recent visits are football related Colorado and AZ.

Four-star Arizona Wildcats target Jason Harris has enjoyable time on UA visit 6/30/2019tucson.com/sports/arizonawildcats/football/four-star-arizona-wildcats-target-jason-harris-has-enjoyable-time/article_b82425fc-998f-5599-8452-70ce19f2285f.html"Jason is a 6-foot-7-inch, 220-pound defensive end at Gilbert Higley High School and holds scholarship offers from T exas A&M, Oregon, UCLA, Alabama, ASU, Auburn, Oklahoma, USC, Texas, Penn State and Ole Miss among other notable Power-5 programs. He is listed as the seventh-best defensive end nationally and the sixth-best recruit in a loaded in-state 2020 recruiting class, per 247 Sports’ rankings. A two-sport athlete, Jason is also a three-star basketball prospect and holds offers from ASU, DePaul, Florida State, Nevada, San Diego State and UNLV." Aztec Mesa, this kid is playing football over MBB. Rocky Long hasn't offered him, so why would he choose MBB over FB at SDSU. I didn't realize how many solid football offers he has.

6'8 2020 Splash City SF Jason Harris offered by SDSU. Harris is from Mesa, AZ plays at Desert Ridge High School. Has NCAA P5 Football, as well as, BBall offers. . Great! But which does he like playing the most, basketball or football? There may not be many schools which would allow you to play in both sports. Too much chance of injury and not being able to play.
