According to that article from the Tacoma Tribune Jaden gets texts on how to improve his game from Juwan Howard! Maybe he can also put in a good word for SDSU since Dutch was there coaching under Fish! Between him and his brother maybe that's enough to sway him our way...just a thought. Not really a huge surprise considering Jalen & Jaden are related to Juwan Howard. Howard didn't push Jalen to SDSU, but did tell Jalen that Fish and Dutcher would take good care of him, so I'm sure Jaden had heard some of the same.

Would be very surprised if Jalen is ready for the NBA after his sophomore year. I fully expect him to progress from being the very good, young player he is this year to a more physically mature very good player next year. But, I think he has things to work on before he can be considered an NBA 2nd rounder next year. Who knows at this point? Things happen. Did we think we would still be watching Malik as a senior three years ago? Here's my prediction on top of your expectation...if he declares next year it will mean that we as Aztecs fans enjoyed one of the best seasons ever on the Mesa!

I think its possible he leaves after next year, but he's an interesting prospect. He seems to be too skinny to play down low in the NBA, and he doesn't have the skill set to play on the perimeter. So in college he (remarkably) can get away with banging down low at his weight, but I don't think that would transition well by itself to the NBA. He either needs to bulk up big time, or work on his perimeter game big time IMO. He has a beautiful free throw stroke and makes every single thing he releases from inside 15 feet it seems like, and also is a capable dribbler to a degree, so I have no doubt he has the ability to stretch his game to the three point line.
We'll see what happens, but I absolutely love having him on our team and hope he has a tremendous pro career one day, which I'm sure he will. Just not sure when that is

Hope we can hang on to him at least through his Junior Year. If we do land his brother he may stay around to play with him a couple years. We can only hope.

It's good for the program whatever happens with Jalen. I have a personal preference that they stay and get their degree but if he becomes a solid first round before he graduates, and since he is a RS he will likely graduate after next year, then he has a decision to make. If his brother is anything like him I would love to have him here. Jalen is a special type of player with intangibles I really don't think you can teach.

Graduating next year would be graduating in 3 years. Doubt that happens.

Jalen has a lot of improvement to make if he's to get in, and stay, in the NBA.

Nothing gets you more prepared for the NBA....than the NBA. If Jalen continues to develop at the pace he has he will probably be a late first round pick after next year. Does he need to get stronger? Yes, does his help defensive instincts need to improve? Yes, but overall a 6'10 guy that is freaky long, a freak athlete, with good touch, and developing handles has a very good shot at the NBA. He's super efficient too, and very smart for his age. All of these traits=nba draft pick. I bet he'd be picked in 2nd round if he left after this year, but hopefully he doesn't and we get 1 more great year out of him

He needs to play more minutes. Something around 30-32 minutes. The fact he was putting up quality numbers at some points playing less than 18 minutes a game is unreal.

College and NBA talent levels are different. Jalen's the exact same size as Brandon Ingram was at Duke, who's doing pretty well. The only difference is Ingram has a significantly better perimeter game - much better handles, a much cleaner shot & is better at creating on his own. My prediction on Jaden. Last I heard initially he didn't want to follow in Jalen's footsteps, but in following his progress his interest in SDSU is on the rise. He's seen what the coaches have done with his brother and therefore he's more open to playing with him, and intrigued. I would bet he either commits but doesn't sign early or holds off on committing until the spring and sees how Jalen does? If he's having a 20-10 type of season & his game has improved to be pro-level, Jaden will sign elsewhere. If Jalen's at about the same place he is today (i.e. not quite ready for the NBA), he'll sign in the spring & play 1 season with his brother. If Jaden commits/signs elsewhere early then he's back to either not wanting to follow in Jalen's footsteps (understandable) or he strongly believes Jalen will come out after next season.

Jaden would be a very good get. He put his team on his back and they finished 2nd in the WA State BB Tournament.
