Thought had a real good chance with him but I think we are out of the mix. Don’t think it has anything to do with SDSU more of what big tome donors can do for them. Maybe we can get a librarian to help.

Good update here regarding SDSU
Tark Classic: Five-star forward Jaden McDaniels talks finalists By EVAN DANIELS
LAS VEGAS – There are six top 10 recruits that have yet to make their college choice. Federal Way (Wash.) High standout Jaden McDaniels is one of them.
On Wednesday at the Tarkanian Classic, an event that draws some of the nation’s best teams and players, McDaniels spoke in-depth about the latest in his recruitment.
“It’s good just having a good relationship with coaches and talking and then just talking to coaches every day and they checking up on me every once in a while,” McDaniels said.
McDaniels has his list at five schools – Kentucky, San Diego State, Texas, UCLA and Washington – and has taken official visits to all of his finalists.
“All the visits went pretty good,” McDaniels said. “I had a good time at all of them. Everybody treated me well. It was just a good experience being in different states that I hadn’t been in before and just seeing different places.”
What sticks out about each of the five schools?
Kentucky: “Just like the way they practice, you can’t explain it you just have to go there he told me and it was really up tempo.”
Texas:“Texas, it was kind of like the same. Everything at Texas, people were diehard fans, coaches a good relationship, they were just showing me around and just making me his family.”
San Diego State: “Yeah, it was super fun being with my brother and being with the team because I’ve known everybody that went there so it’s like a big family over there.”
Washington: “Washington too, it’s like a huge family since it’s right up the street so I just drove up there and had a good time with the coaches and players.”
UCLA: “UCLA, it went pretty good. I got to go to one of the games and then they had blew a team out and then I just got to hang out with the coaches and players after and it was really fun.”
McDaniels said he doesn’t plan to take anymore unofficial visits before coming up with a decision. In terms of a timeline for a college choice, McDaniels said he’s unsure on when he'll make his college choice.
McDaniels ranks as the No. 1 power forward and the No. 5 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite.

When will he decide or make another cut? I hope he wants to play with his older brother and they realize that Jalen will be back. A guy can hope. it would be fun to watch them on the same court.

Federal Way ranked in the Top 20 National HS teams. But is Jaden coming to SDSU?

If we don't gel as a team and start winning our odds of landing Jaden get worse. Interesting the article talks about playing with his brother which would indicate that Jalen might hang around another year. Maybe that is one of the big determining factors in landing Jaden, Thanks for sharing the article.

It has been a very odd year and a half of MBB. I am a Dutcher fan, because I think he is the kind of guy I would like to have in my Sunday golf group. BUT, in D1 college sports, it's not who the nicest guy is that matters. What matters is recruiting and X and O's. Dutcher has the recruiting pedigree. Nobody can deny that. He is respected and noted for being able to recruit. Only the coaches and players in the locker room know how good he is at game strategy. But, for me, I won't sell him short on his recruiting activities. If they don't land Jaden, it won't be because they didn't try hard enough or their pitch wasn't good enough. Jaden, and his father, know SDSU like the back of their hand. And, whatever the disgruntled fans say, it can't be denied that Jaden's brother got on the NBA radar while being at SDSU. That can't count against us!

It’s been a rough 2 1/2 years for the program. The biggest drop off, IMO, has been in recruiting. We’ve suffered the vagaries of departure (coaches and players), a common affliction in the current basketball landscape that we’d avoided until recently. I have no special insight into our recruiting efforts. Just going by impression and published articles, it seemed that the program targeted a relatively small number of players each year and landed a remarkable number of those recruits. Over the last few years a number of things have changed: coaches (and the players they recruiters), Parish, mid major recruiting dynamics, and perhaps we overreached on too many players. With all that has happened I would expect Dutcher to get a few years to bring in recruits. Recruiting in 2020 will be of great importance for Dutcher and the team.

In the days of Fish, he went out and hired Marvin M, a great recruiter. After Marvin left, he found another great recruiter/coach in Hut. Tony Bland was also an excellent recruiter who helped the Aztecs a lot.
If there is not one on staff now, Dutcher needs one badly to keep the players coming in.
Profound apologies to any other fine recruiters that I inadvertently have not mentioned.

He's got swaggar and I like that he was a major recruit coming out of high school too so he can relate with the higher level recruits that we go after. I haven't had any lengthy conversations with him though so I don't know a whole lot about his personality

I'm not sure if Jalen is going to end up as a lottery pick this year. If Jaden chooses SDSU and Jalen decides to stay one more year, I think SDSU gets a ton of publicity with this brother combo (which could help their draft stock). Some other college brother combos that come to mind include: Brook and Robin Lopez, Ed and Charles O'Bannon, Marcus and Markieff Morris, Horace and Harvey Grant, Taylor and Blake Griffin...
More importantly, SDSU will immediately be on the Top 25 radar and should get a decent seed in the NCAA tourney - providing a good chance for a deep run and national exposure.
