You can also look at National Championships, # of players currently (let alone historically) in the NBA, athletic department budget, quality of team facilities & other support to student athletes, conference affiliation (i.e., ability to play against meaningful opponents from Dec-Feb when scouts are watching), and on and on and on... The Zags have a really good thing going, but to compare them the UCLA & Arizona is just ridiculous. All those things are historically. Gonzaga is better now and has been better in recent years. I get your point and agreed. Going forward, Arizona will be lucky to be better than ASU next year. UCLA was happy to be in the last four. UCLA and Arizona are historically better. Currently they are not. Sdsu was better than all of them for a brief window.

Whether or not a team is a blue blood and a premier program is based on the program, not how good the current team is. UCLA, Arizona, etc have established a major foundation over many, many years as consistently drawing the best talent and being elite programs. Gonzaga has a good program as well, but they aren't on the same level.
UCLA/AZ recruit so well because they have tons of money, facilities, a massive following, banners, a storied program, etc. Gonzaga doesn't have all of that

True, the Zags have a good recent history, but comparing Gonzaga & Spokane to AZ & Tucson or UCLA & L.A. is apples and oranges. Their kennel holds 6,000, with their success getting to the NCAA's it shouldn't be hard to fill & look "impressive" on TV. They also have a scouting network of priests & teachers that alerts them to prospects on the Pope's dime. There is a lot going on there that is hard to compete with. JMO

It appears Dutch decided to go with an experienced and proven Flynn at PG in 2019 and 2020, versus hoping to land Boogie or other PGs on our radar.

I have an idea. You should start a ridiculous thread about how we're getting shut out of California in basketball recruiting. C'mon Man!
