Doesn't this belong in" Other Colleges And Conferences?"

Wonder if they were afraid to let them in? What were the reasons? Seemed like a logical place for them.

Doesn't this belong in" Other Colleges And Conferences?" Probably but nobody would see it. Some minor pertinence to SDSU however.

because the big west would rather have us in. smart move.

No. What it means is either the presidents think UC San Diego by themselves is a step backwards. Or they just don't want to split the pie up any further. I'm hoping it's the former. I've been a proponent of going to 12 with Grand Canyon and NMSU as well.

sdsu 2003 why are we as not as prepared as soccer city? That is the billion dollar question. I wish I knew. Frankly, IMO it is unacceptable that the "leadership" on the Mesa was not prepared to implement a plan for Mission Valley the day after the Chargers announced their departure to Los Angeles. Even a blind man could see this scenario was a very likely possiblility. Yet, it appears SDSU has no contingency plan.

So you're not concerned about the prospect of a third D1 institution in your backyard?

The WAC will accept them with open arms.. Might be a better conference for them anyways. CSUB, Grand Canyon, New Mex St, UCSD, and Seattle.. Up and coming markets..

UCSD wanted to move up on the cheap. I'm not sure the AD can sell the faculty on travel to Kansas City, Edinburg, Orem and Seattle every year in all sports.
That's not even considering some of the members: a private for-profit in Grand Canyon, a school that was a jc only 25 years ago in Utah Valley, and another school that's on the brink of closing down in Chicago State.
If it was anyone else they'd definitely look to the WAC. UC San Diego worded their referendum in such a way that it is essentially Big West or bust for them.

Why not the WAC? The WAC would take them in a heartbeat.

Why not the WAC? The WAC would take them in a heartbeat. The WAC is the Island of Misfit Toys. No one wants to be there. And every night its members gaze into the sky hoping beyond hope that Santa's sleigh appears and takes them away. Oh, wait. Sounds a lot like our situation in the MGC.

What is the alternative besides forgetting moving up to D1 completely?

It looks like Missouri-Kansas City is strongly being considered to replace Wichita State after they left MVC. Anybody looking for landing place in the WAC (Hello UCSD). Plus CAL Baptist is going to the WAC in a few years and would be good travel partners with UCSD. As for Aztec news should we continue playing the MVC/MWC challenge if there marquee program is gone?
