July evaluation month is done for recruits and coaches. We did land a SG and SF . Also have a guard transfer for 2017 . So heading into 2017 we have 2 scholarships to hand out if Malik is back and 3( we some times hold one as needed for a transfer) ? if he is off to the pros . We lose Valentine up front at the 5 and Dakari, D.Williams and Matt as SG / SF 's . Next step is lining up visits and possible additional signings for NLI week early November . To me needs are at the 5( does NOT have to be a 7 ft post player , more likely athletic guy for D ) and or 4 positions ,
Will be very interested to see what guys we can line up for visits to SDSU and / or who invites coaches to visit them for in home or ....??

We may lose Cheatham to the NBA also. Agree strongly that we need to add at least 2 bigs.

I heard the same thing a couple of years ago regarding James Johnson(aka work out warrior) and Angelo Chol(aka the black predator)

Would guess that we will get a much more realistic evaluation of how much Zylan has improved when we play at the Zags . Do believe we Could have a great set of forwards Z at the 4 and Malik at the 3 - very difficult match up for most of the teams we play . Usually great growth is between the first and second year for a player with a team-Z . Malik could also be a guy that has a definitive set of goals to show that he is a NBA talent
Am looking forward to see what guys that play the 5 and 4 positions that the Aztecs can get to visit and of course sign . We will at least need an athletic guy that can play the 5 .

It doesn't have to be miraculous, unless your definition of miraculous is far different than mine. Zalan will rock this season and declare for the draft.

Suggestion per coach Fisher if you are going to be a first round choice then leave for NBA . But if a second rounder then take a much better in depth look at the possibility ( Malik ) . If you go look at recent drafts and projections for 2017 NBA draft loaded with freshmen . Zylan will get great test vs the Zags and CAL . CAL has Rabb another PF both will be sophomores . We also play ASU and may play Utah .? Then we see how he and Malik stack up . Do like the MZ combo at the forward positions .
Getting back to 2017 recruiting did see where Tyler Bey has scheduled visits to Wyoming and Colorado

If you believe Zylan is ready for NBA after this season, you should reject your season tickets and not attend any basketball game
It's obvious you don't know how to properly evaluate NBA talent..stick to the D league
When a talented individual can't shoot consistently a jumpshot and make it, you have no place in the NBA

Shooting matters but it is just 1 part of the game, Zylan is absolutely an NBA prospect cause of his defensive potential.

And the pro's focus on upside, not how you delivered last month or 2 months ago. They know players can develop their shot at the next level when they can work on it full-time. They just need to bring SOME NBA-level skill to the floor for a shot. I personally think Z is here for 2 more years, but would never count out ANY player with a lot of athleticism out of the picture. Plus, the older you get the smaller the window of opportunity, so if you have a shot..... PS. Dejonte Murray is a guard who hasn't played the point & has a horrible perimeter game but his freak athleticism was enough for him to be a 1st rounder as a potential PG. Potential & upside are THE key words..

I don't see Z declaring after his sophmore year, but he's got a pro body and a pro motor.
Z reminds me a little of Cheick Diallo with a little less wingspan.

Didn't Rodman look around and say what the Bulls don't need is another shooter. He was smart enough to become one of the truly great rebounders of that era. He did what no one else on the Bulls wanted to do. Get dirty under the basket. Made a great living doing that. He also realized that he was in the entertainment business not the basketball business.

In addition to being the best rebounder of his era, he also played great defense, ran like a greyhound on the fast break, and became an excellent passer, and don't forget about the self appointed getting into the opponents star players head role. Shooting will always be very important in the NBA, but Rodman proved you could carve out a nice niche for yourself if you are willing to do the things that others aren't.

Rodman is a pretty lofty example. I believe it was either Michael Jordan or Isaiah Thomas who said Rodman was the best athlete they've ever played against
