This may be the only way Ernie Kent can get his program in the pac12 spotlight! I hope the kids win their cases!
GO AZTECS!!

Looks like the staff is happy with another Skylar: 3.8 ppg, 2.7 rebounds and 44% FT. He also had 50 blocks.

Looks like the staff is happy with another Skyler: 3.8 ppg, 2.7 rebounds and 44% FT. He also had 50 blocks. How a 6'10" guy with the wingspan of a Boeing 747 can only score fewer than 4 pts. and grab fewer than 3 rebounds per game is beyond me. Looks like Skyler lite.

I'm excited because we have no one on the roster to fit the true center position which maybe we can get through conference without but getting that key non-conference win or NCAA Tournament win would be tough without. Also, we haven't been linked to any true center that can come in and play next year.
If Izundu can learn our defense he could give us what Spencer gave us which is all we need at a minimum. Our guys thought last year they were good enough to make a run in the NCAA Tournament. If we can fill Spencer's role with a similar player then you'd think we would have the same chance but probably better with hopefully everyone improving their game this offseason.
"Whenever Izundu is on the floor, opponents are on notice -- he personally rejects an absurd 15 percent of their 2-pointers. The only reason Izundu isn't at the top of Ken Pomeroy's block percentage leaderboard is that a foot injury (from which he has since returned) has left him below the arbitrary minutes played threshold. But it's indisputable that Izundu is one of the very best shot blockers in the country."

If we're going to look at the New-Skylar glass as half-full, we see that Izundu would have been 35th in the country in Blocked shots per game with 2.17. Skylar was 49th with 1.89 per game.
But Skylar averaged 24.9 minutes per game while Izundu only played 14.9. So he may be an even better defender in that area. Izundu also averaged the same exact 3.8 ppg but with almost 10 minutes less a game. Hope he spends a lot of time practicing FT though.

With Gill Caesar, Hoetzl, Narain, and progression of Kell & Hemsley and improvement of other guys, we are gonna be a much better offensive team next year. Another version of Skylar who can protect the rim, guard other team's bigs and get a put back or two is awesome.

Izundu does 2 things well, 1 of which he does extremely well. If Izundu qualified he would have been second in the country in block % at 13.9, Vishal Fernandez of Valpo was at 14.3. He also has a 9.8 offensive rebounding %, which would rank in the top 300 in the country if he qualified. There are undoubtedly things to worry about, among them are his 6/19 A/TO in 342 Minutes played, he did commit 6.1 fouls per 40 minutes, which isn't good but not awful, he is a poor defensive rebounder. All in all I think he is a good Spencer replacement, he is very unlikely to be as sound as Spencer defensively but he can give us 20 solid minutes of center defense and we don't give up a 2017 scholarship at the same time, we desperately needed a rim protector for next year.
I'm sure it will be asked why he just played 15 MPG for WSU, but Ernie Kent's not a good coach and there were WSU fans I saw wanting him to play more. This is all of course assuming that the transfer block doesn't work.

Nolan could become our best offensive shooting play at the 5 position we have had in a very long time . Zylan could also provide some inside scoring at the 5. What we need is defense at the 5 and rebounding from an experienced player who has gone against PAC - opponents .
Izundu , if the story is correct was on "spring break " paid his own way to enjoy the So Cal scene . Believe WSU 's season was over . He did go watch a college game in a sport he normally plays , so how is this tampering ? When did he announce he was leaving ? Could his friend be a witness to what happened ?
