transfer in thread looks like it's more transfer out: Cullen Neal from UNM to Ole Miss JJ N'Gagna from UNM to Mercer Jojo McGlaston from Utah State to Bradley David Collette from Utah State to Utah Lew Evans from Utah State to Tenneesse John Gillon from Col State to Sryacuse Eric Cooper from Nevada to Pepperdine Ben Carter from UNLV to Michigan St Dwayne Morgan from UNLV to TBD Jordan Cornish from UNLV to TBD + many others playing in DII and Juco's. pretty sure that have more talent going out than transferring in the MWC. Believe Morgan decided to stay at UNLV a long time ago; Collette transferred last year not this year, and McGlaston wasn't even at USU this year.
Aside from the UNLV guys & their desperation for players, the only real losses are Gillon & Evans. Cooper may have lost PT given their influx of talent. Neal's good but struggled under the pressure of his dad, so don't think it hurts them that much in the long run. The drop-off from Neal to Hunter isn't that great.

He can't get 4 more years with a true transfer. You can only get 6 years on the clock if you miss 2 seasons to injury.
Good add for CSU.

Haven't seen anything about an injury, but who knows? Too bad he didn't transfer mid-year - basically wasted a year.
BTW, this statement from the article makes ZERO sense: "He played in one game last season as a freshman at Arkansas, scoring three points in seven minutes against Northwestern State. He reportedly has applied for a waiver from the NCAA to count last season as a redshirt year. Either way, he’ll have to sit out next season under NCAA transfer rules."
Applying to the NCAA for a waiver to count last season as a RS year is meaningless unless he stayed at Arkansas (would then have 4 for 4) or it's to wave the 1 year he must sit out before being eligible at CSU. Players have actually won that argument, given the right scenario (e.g. family emergency, forced off team & off scholarship, etc.).
However, the only way having 2 redshirt years helps him now is if he a) gets a medical hardship waiver (not RS), AND b) gets injured again & misses another season. Then it would make sense down the road. If he can become instantly eligible that's one thing, but the article implies that's not possible which is true unless there were mitigating circumstances.
The good news is he'll have a year to develop, then 3 to contribute.

Nevada also looking at the Martin Twins from NC State. Curious to know who's NOT returning for them. With the 2 earlier believe that gives them 13 on scholarship for '17, so who's flunked out or transferring out?

Wooten 6'9 F/C highly rated CA kid is going to a prep school so they might have moved on assuming they can grab better talent. They certainly are stockpiling experienced talent with these transfers.

Stephens and Cooke don't impress me. Martin bros would be big pickups

Do we remember how the BSU MBB coach suggested to a returning player last year or year before , that he may want to be looking at other schools . Also some of the other lesser valued players get the suggestion that maybe another school will give them more PT . James Johnson , LBF , are some that played here and then transferred out . It happens that schools we think are at their limit , find out that a player is leaving . Believe Max now a current Aztec from IU , received similar information as they had at least 15 guys scheduled to be on their roster , before Max and another player transferred out .

Thanks. I just rechecked & they were already added (missed them) so even with these 2 they're now at 11, so have room. Didn't realize they were so thin for '17 with only 9 on scholarship before, and still only 9 who are eligible even if they add the Martin bros. Guess you only need 8 but that's a risky proposition - 1 injury away......
Not a big fan of RS 1, play 1 type of guys like Stephens, but if you have a lot of extra room I guess.... Much like Obepko at UNLV - paid for a scholarship for a year with ZERO return, and best case is you pay 2 years for 1 year return.
I actually like Cooke, but seems like with Stephens & 1 of the Martin kids you have duplication, but having talent is never a bad thing. Just not sure how much he'd contribute in that scenario.
They're loaded in the backcourt, but appear thin upfront if Wooten doesn't come this year, which is probably why they have offers out to others including Idehen.

UNLV added three more players to its basketball roster Wednesday, picking up commitments from Uche Ofoegbu, Jordan Johnson and Djordjije Sljivancanin. Ofoegbu averaged 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last season, and made 50.8 percent of his shots, including 43.5 percent of his 3-pointers.
Johnson is a 5-9 guard from Wisconsin-Milwaukee, who under NCAA rules will have to sit out next season. He averaged 12.5 points and 8.1 assists per game last season under coach Rob Jeter, now a Rebels assistant.
Sljivancanin is a 6-11 center from under-18 Ukranian national team in 2014. He also played at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Not too bad ... starting to fill out the roster.

The coaching change at USF sure hit them hard - Watson & Uche this year, & Tolleson last year..... Uche isn't a volume guy (although at UNLV he might be) but when on the floor he seems to produce. Good opportunity for him, although 3rd school in 4 years is interesting.

Aside from Brodricks Jones, the Pokes also have an Ernie Kent player. This one without restrictions.
