This statement alone shows the article as a joke.

This statement alone shows the article as a joke. Your opinion and that of most liberals is the joke. In the words of Ronald Reagan: 'The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so.' -Ronald Reagan

Why not "The trouble with our conservative friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so."
That quote has just as much relevance as the one from Ronald Reagan. In fact, why would you refer to a quote from Reagan? You know, of course, that Reagan spent WW II in Hollywood being a Jodie while real Americans fought against the Nazis and Tojo. I just can't get behind anybody who refused to serve in uniform while an active draft system was in effect. I know that I was conscripted into the Army and served my duty even though I disagreed with the Vietnam action. I did so because my country asked me to and I felt I owed it to my country as payment for the benefits I received by being a citizen. Perhaps neo-cons like you see it differently. Perhaps you just want things your way.

Perhaps you just want things your way. Well, the why not is easy. It is because it is not so. I could go into great length on the difference between conscripts and volunteers and the quality of their service but I think we both know that is a dead end argument depending on which one you were if any.

Reagan did serve, as you mentioned. But the reason, or one reason at least, that he did not go to a combat zone was that he was declared unfit for combat due to hearing loss. He sustained that from a gun going off hear his head during a film shoot.
But what the hell difference does that make? FDR did not serve in WWI. Is he criticized for that?

AzWm He wouldn't be in combat because his service was worth more to the country making flims for the DOD. That was what they wanted him to do.
