It seems to me the quickest way for a college basketball program to have a down year or two is by being soft in the key. Ten years ago, I remember the Aztecs playing well enough in conference to make the post season, only to go up against an SEC school who had 4 quality post players vs the Aztecs who had one ok center and Chris Walton. Now, Chris Walton played his butt off, but eventually the deeper bench won. Fisher is not going into next year without some experienced bigs. that i think was florida in the NIT, ran into the same issue against syracuse a few years later. of course when we played UCONN we had the better frontline, and they had the better backcourt.

Most quality teams need at least 1 high quality guard and 1 high quality guy playing either the 4 or 5 position to make a decent run in MM . I respectfully disagree... Give me 5 small forwards...Kawhi, LeBron, Bird, Durrant, and Pippen...and put them all on the floor...not a center, power forward or guard among the lot...and tell me how far they'd go in the NCAA tounament... It's not about the position...it about scoring more points than allowing the other team to score...simple If the Aztecs start 5 players who are 6'10" (Pope), 6'9" (Hoetzel), and 6'9" (Cheatham) in the front court + 6'6 (Shriggley) and 6'4" (Hemsley)...there is plenty of height and speed on the floor plus 4 of 5 who can drain 3's (Cheatham being the exception...but he's still young giving him something to work on...just like Kawhi did)

Texas MBB coach arrived in their private jet to come watch him play . Also of note the 3 other P5 schools . Utah has reputation of using their centers on offense Texas MBB coach uses the private jet every time.He does not fly on Southwest Airlines that school and staff is rich.L ets hope that we are only recruiting players that can score the basketball. This team would move to the next level if that can be accomplished. We need a defensive center above everything else.

Got it thanks...so if you believe Verbal Commits we aren't even on the radar (which we clearly are). So either we are so new to the party that they haven't updated their info or they have been missing us all along. I don't think the bigger schools were on him till very recently, keep in mind he was a HS prospect for 2015 so don't take the info before november 2015 for really much of anything.

Thought we were talking about current college players and teams .Not all star NBA players. Sure seems as though the better college teams have at least 1 quality player in the back court and 1 in the front court.
Would be highly amazed if the M & M 's Matt and Max are starters next year .

Nebraska is looking at Bigby-Williams as plan B if they don't get a top HS recruit. Here's a lift from the local paper.
"Well, a 6-10, 230-pound junior college player who leads the nation in rebounding (13.9) and blocked shots (6.0) and also scores 17.4 points a game has a Nebraska connection.
Kavell Bigby-Williams plays for fifth-ranked and 27-1 Gillette (Wyoming) College. The assistant there is Tony Schamber, who worked on Doc Sadler’s staff in Lincoln for three years as coordinator of basketball operations.
Nebraska recently reached out to Bigby-Williams. But Texas already has been in three times along with Iowa State, Oklahoma State and many other high majors."
Needless to say, We're not the only school looking at this kid.
"When asked if Bigby-Williams is interested in NU, Schamber texted: “Not sure. We have a long list he has to narrow down.”
