Got a text from a buddy stating Coach White was a candidate and interviewed at a Power 5 school in Texas for their Defensive backs job. Can anyone confirm? Haven't seen this anywhere

Texas just let go their DB coach because he was caught up in the Ole Miss mess. Could be the Longhorns.

At the Stone Brewery recruiting night, Rocky made mention that he hoped Coach White stayed here. I took that has a hint that someone else was considering him.

If he really wanted him to stay couldn't he promote him to DC?

If he really wanted him to stay couldn't he promote him to DC? Then that would take him away from his duty as a recruiting coordinator. He is more valuable to us as a DB coach + Recruiting coordinator, than a D Coordinator. And having that recruiting coordinator title adds money to his db coach salary. So, in terms of salary, bumping him to D coordinator wouldn't give him that much of a pay increase. Giving him a pay increase would improve him the chance of him staying, not the change in job title. He likes recruiting and wants to focus on that. He would most likely have to give that job up if he became the coordinator.

I suspect that early in Fisher's tenure at SDSU the loss of a major recruiting lead like bland to USC would have been really rough. Now, we get someone like Hutson to come back in. I suspect the loss of White over the next year or two would be a much bigger deal than if it were to happen 3 to 5 years from now. I say pay him.
