Not sure as to why this kid was released from his team which was Florida Atlantic, but at one time he was a 3 star recruit, 18th best center coming out of High school. He's 6' 9" 235 and was averaging 9.9 points a game and 7 boards pg as a starting sophmore center this season when released and is now looking to transfer somewhere.
He was originally going to University of Tenn until there was a coaching change and he suddenly ended up at Florida Atlantic. This is the type of player that could be eligible in December of next year.
A little more about this player coming out of high school: CJ Turman, a 6-foot-9, consensus three-star rated prospect and former Tennessee signee, confirmed in a text message Thursday that he will visit FAU this weekend. Turman averaged 13 points and 12 rebounds in his senior season at Morgan County (Ga.) and was known throughout the South as a mobile and powerful big.
He was ranked the 158th best player in the nation by 247sports. ESPN ranked Turman the 18th best forward prospect in the country.
Turman was released from his NLI with Tennessee. He eschewed offers from Alabama, Miami, Houston and Georgia.

Ok, let's correct a couple things. He was at neither "Florida Southern" nor "South Florida." He was dismissed from the team at FAU for "an unspecified violation of team rules." www.fauowlaccess.com/articles/355/turman-kicked-off-fau-hoops-team.aspxAlso: “C.J. has not lived up to the standards required to be a member of our basketball family,” said head coach Michael Curry in a prepared statement. “We have worked extremely hard to establish a culture within our program that will lead to a lifetime of success for our student-athletes. C.J. has not met the necessary obligations, which led to this decision. We love C.J. and wish only success for him in the future.” (http://faufocus.blog.palmbeachpost.com/2015/12/21/basketball-fau-center-c-j-turman-to-transfer/) EDIT: Ah, I see you corrected your initial post, cool.

The kids Last game stat : A 6-foot-9 sophomore, Turman scored 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in Saturday's loss to Florida St.
Yes there is an issue with the kid being dismissed it happens and who knows why. But If there is anyone/program that can make a great situation out of a previously poor one this might be the place. Correction: Here we go, kid was kicked off the team because of a domestic charge by his ex-girlfriend as noted on police report on 01/11/2016. Not good although charges dismissed and he may have been in a combustible relationship. Next transfer option. Hopefully this kid goes to a community college, gets out of state and gets himself on track.

In random NCAA transfer news: double, double guy 6'8 210 PF Elijah Minnie has been released by Robert Morris for violation of team rules.
Elijah Minnie started 15 games for the Colonials this season while averaging 12 points and six rebounds. Last season, he started 21 games as a freshman and was a major contributor to the 2014-15 Northeast Conference tournament champion team.
Not saying we are the school for dismissed players and bad eggs, but am sure there will be high quality Bigs looking at us come March.

Do not think Fisher is looking for guys dismissed from their teams . Need for a 5 is fall of 2016 so most likely a grad transfer, JC or HS , not a player that can not play until 2017 .
